Epson RD-1s is selling at much lower price than that.... only $3,888Keltzar said:And the M8 is nicely built ... and IMHO, well thought out ... probably hence the wait .. though voigtlander/epson were earlier to market with the RD-1 and RD-1s (which retails for about S$5k).

Then again, you forgot to add: petrol and car park fees just to get film processed. Hahaha...
Neo said:Not that I'm even contemplating between the M7 and M8, but I'm curious to see how I can justify purchasing the digital M8 IF I ever have the moolah to do so...![]()
The estimated price difference between the M7 ($4500) and M8 ($8500)should be about $4000. That would account for about 500 rolls of film, assuming each roll cost $8 including processing of the film itself only (prints not counted since it'll cost the same for printing for film or digital source).

Of course, one can argue that 5 years later the digital body will be next to worthless, but who can tell the value of film cameras 5 years later? The only probable thing is that the film based M7 and MP will outlast the digital M8 in terms of lifespan...

Yes, that's what I thought too when I checked out his site. He is selling the Panasonic L1 at the same price as the Epson R-D1s at about $3,880. Seems quite high to me for the L1.Terence said:Definitely not cheap, it should be under $8000 to be competitive, that's what most US dealers are selling for. Prices ought to stabalise once the hype tapers off.
