Sold in most camerastore @ $59. You can try if Alan photo @ funan would quote you cheaper.

Disclaimer: I've been talking a lot of ALan Photo. Just to be clear I've nothing to do with their business. Just another customer who seldom buy but window shop in there.

Heartening to see so many D3100 users!!
I was thinking to buy this cos of it's attractive priced, for entry level DSLR
Of cos specs is gd as well! Any users can share the limitations?isit good for low light or night shot?
Intend to get it before I travel! and aslo I wonder if the kit lens 18-55 enuff for travel?
Normally do shops accept trade in of the kit lens on spot?

my first DSLR, D3100... really happy with it and very user friendly... not sure about trading with the kit lens, just keep the kit lens and play around with it first...

I just came back from Bangkok, I just carry D3100 with 35mm F1.8 and a confy camera sling... small and compact.. if compare to other DSLR...
Pictures taken are far better then my Point and shoot camera... works well with low light and night shot...
might want to consider getting one 35mm... good and affordable...
Btw I left my kit lens at home... throughout the trip just use 35mm lens... my trip comprises of more street/candid shots rather then landscape... moments captured with the family are precious... simply love it... provide very shallow depths of field, they blur the area in front of and behind the subject.

Going to join some of the gatherings one of this days, upgrade once i got the hang of it... hehehe...^o^

While watching the youtube videos on the autofocus when it's in video mode, I noticed the noise from the AF motor can be quite distinguishable. It is because of the lens or will the noise go away when you switch to another lens?

Just bought D3100 body + 18-105mm lens at $965 in Alan Photo.

Hi, it's been a long time since I posted in this thread. I'm still using my D3100, still loving it. However I notice some issues when using the 18-105mm lens and the in built flash. The lens seems to block a bit of the flash so there's a shadow in my picture. Any recommendations for a external flash? I still love the quality of the pictures but recently I have problems with out of focus. Based on the LCD screen it looks in focus, but when I view on my PC, it's not. I guess it's due to the low res of the camera lcd?

Update: My camera just died!!! Mirror stuck down cannot move up. :(

Bring it to NSC while keeping your mount covered. They should be able to help

Hi, just bought my D3100 with 18-55mm kit few weeks ago.
My noob question is how you check/ensure the sharpness of the picture?
Looks like my pic doesnt sharp or crisp enough.. (worried got a faulty lens)

Try fixing your camera on tripod and shoot. Check your photos on pc

Hi guys I'm really new to this. I'm going to buy my D3100 soon but I'm not sure about the process, like where to buy and what to expect. My friend told me that it's not advisable to to Audiohouse, Courts etc and asked me to go to Alan Photo instead. I'm thinking of buying it without the kit lens but with 18-105mm instead. Or should I wait until they give free lens with the purchase? I once saw the promotion where they gave the 55-200mm lens for free with purchase of the D3100 but it's during the CNY period. And what are the things that I have to know (what free stuff will they be giving etc) before I buy the camera? Thanks.

I had no memories of that they give 55-200mm for free ^^"
For lens upgrade, you can speak with the shop owners see if they can do it for you. Try J3:16. They may not have the best price, but they can make the most flexible bundle for you. Otherwise, try TK Foto.

Been wanting to buy this camera. I've checked orient photo and they quoted me $820. Is there anywhere lower or is this the lowest for now cos I reckon that most of the shops have increased their prices due to the disaster. Thanks people! :)

Your pic was blurred due to camera shake. Sometimes higher iso setting willas so affect ur pic sharpness. I suggest u learn how to use shutter or aperture priority mode and iso setting.

Put it on a flat solid surface & take a shot after AF beeper confirms. If it's still blur then u need to worry. Do not mix up ISO noise with image blur, there is a big difference betw. the 2.

Anyone knows where to buy original batteries EL14 cheaper?
best price got so far $65.
