Official D3100 User Thread

You are able to use FX/DX lens on the D3100 without any problems but note that as the camera itself does not have the focusing screw for older lenses to AF.

As for storing in the dry cabinet, either storing it with lens attached or not does not matter.

thanks alot

Hi ppl...I also got 1 more question, when u guys buy the D3100 the memory card is wat brand and wat class?

Buy class 10 or Sandisk with the quickest transfer rate you can afford.

then wad is the difference between DX and FX lens?

Original no but 3rd party RF type 2 pieces (remote/reviver) should have..
Those receiver to plug in the MC-DC2 remote port.
Those for D3000/D5000/D90 should be compatible as all using MC-DC2, look for
it at the Mass Sale section.

Thanks for the info..I shall look for it under Mass sales =))

Usually DX lenses are more affordable as lens elements used are not as high end as the FX lenses.

The most expensive DX lens you can find right now would be the AF-S 17-55 f/2.8 which cost ard S$2.5k street price.

You be able to mount FX lenses on DX bodies with full features that it has to offer, but DX lenses on a FX bodies would give you some limitations (Crop MP, serious vignetting, Auto DX off).

I've got a question for D3100 users.
Does the memory card flipout cover shift slightly in its place when you rub your finger over it?

i guess if shift slightly is alright, like +/- 0.5mm tolerance gap.

Usually they "bundle" it with a cheap class 4 card only. Best to get class 10 card for fullhd video recording.

I believe you have to get them separately as usually they come bundled with the 18-55.

Hi all fellow D3100 users, i like to know how to use all 11 AF focus points on a pic? I tried AF-S, AF-C all left me with only a single focus point. Pardon for my noob questions.:sweatsm:

Hi need some advice.. I'm a d3100 user who loves to take potrait n landscape both during day n low light. I currently have a 35mm f1.8. I tried paring it witj a 18-135mm lens but doesnt seem compatible with my shooting style. Any advice on which lens i should pair my 35mm with? Thinking of getting a f2.8 lens (either a tokina or tamron version as i cant afford the nikon). Any pros n cons? Yr humble advice much appreciated.

hi guys I am new to photography and was wondering where can I buy a dry cabinet and how much does one typically cost?

also.. are 3rd party lenses advisable? I saw a Sigma(nikon mount) 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG selling 2nd hand for 380 only!! whereas the nikon one would easily cost thousands.. and diff between the 2 and which is more value for money?
