Hi all 7D users. Currently I one leg into the 7D coffin already. Going to upgrade from my trusty 450D for roughly 3~4 years.
Amongst all the slightly higher end bodies, I think the price range and specs suits me quite well.
Problem is, asking around here and there and reading up on this thread (not all of it) I came across this issue where it was stated that prolong usage of videography might cause sensor burn? Not an issue for me cause I don't do videography but would like to know if in the near, and bleak SG future, I might start doing videos.
Other then this issue, I've yet to find any major flaw in this piece of equipment. Anyone can help dispel this myth for me? =]

According to the manual, it is stated that the temperature will rise and if it is too hot, the recording will stop (if I remember correctly). No idea why Canon cannot control the heat issue.
I am using Kingston Ultimate (266x) CF card on 7D, after reading on the performance comparisons on various cards. This card works well for me. Strangely, not many shops selling Kingston ultimate cards. I wonder if it has some problems that I may not have read online. Price wise, it is around the price of sandisk ultra range.

Any idea how much this body is going to cost if purchased in HK?
New 7D user reporting in. Just upgraded from 50D n still in transition n familiarization phase.
Have some questions abt the CF card, did some homework n realized that Sandisk Ultra shld suffice for HD videos. Y is the Sandisk Extreme is prefered over the Ultra by 7D users here. Gathered from this thread that it has to do with the buffering of data when shooting in high speed continuous stills. Ultra will have slower buffering ability.
Would like to know the difference in the max number of shots before it stalls if I use ultra, or a comparison in the possible number of shots each card can achieve.
Also, I'm thinking of getting an external microphone which can be mounted on my hotshoe. Can anybody recommend a economic one or point me in the right direction? Intend to use it occasionally only hence not wanting too spend much on it. Not familiar with video accessories hence asking this here.
TIA for both my queries
Hi all,
Just got a canon 7d. Need some advice.
Anyone using:
1) Yongnuo Remote Switch for Canon EOS 7D? Is the model Yongnuo RS-802/C3?
2) 3rd party battery (ie Phottix or Decoded LP-E6), understand that some 3rd party batteries require 3rd party charger to charge the battery and it cannot show the charge level. Wanted one that can use the original charger and can show battery level.
Thanks a lot. Guess I can have the ease of mind when getting this piece of superb equipment.

get a rode mic.. only thing that annoys me is the hot shoe screw always loosens up. have to tighten it occasionally
Thanks! You're referring to this right? and you mean the hotshoe screw the circular plastic thing which the older flashes use right?
Am checking on the different versions eg; video or stereo, pro versus non-pro...will ask again if i'm not sure. Thanks!
