Official Canon EOS 7D User Thread Part I

That's easy. Buy them both, then sell them both after a month and switch to Nikon :)

If I bought 5D i will not switch to Nikon liao. If I were to switch now is the time. Hah. Honestly and frankly the only reason why my first camera was 600D and not the D5100 was because one is made in Japan and the other was Thailand. So unless D7000 is Japan made, I guess I will not switch to Nikon anytime soon.

hi guys,
i borrowed my 7d to a fren and came back with different setting, which i bet he wont know what he did to my camera also.
the viewfinder used to have a red blink and beep sound when focus, now both the sound and blink is gone.
pls guide me how to change back the setting

thanks

I dont think it is wise to switch. You tend to lose certain values of the equipment like lenses and body of your old system!

You can set all these via the camera menu settings.

For AF confirm sound aka beep sound, it is at the Menu setting>>>Beep.

For AF zone, you can set through Menu>>>Custom Function III: Autofocus/Drive >>> Select AF area selection mode.

If anything else fails, it time to visit CSC!

Hi any 7D outing? I would love to find out more about it and ultimately buying one :)

You should get one now, it is around less than S$1700/- in BnS section. Very value for money but too bad it is 1.6x, should have been a 1.3x but still it works fine for me.

check your manual pg.47 & 213.

The problem with 7D is its pop-up flash cannot fire HSS to off camera flashes.
I dont know why canon never put in that feature.

I am totally fine losing value. LOL. Important is if D7000 is better than my 60D or not. If its not I will go to 7/5D

Hi,

During my last assignment of a wedding job, my 2nd photographer used a D7000. After job done, I looked at the RAW files, the quality is comparable to my 7D. Just my opinion!

Maybe you Google D7000 vs 7D you choose the first link by Snapsort.com

Good luck!

now using stock 18-135mm len...havent decide to use wat len till i decide wat i wanna shoot ;p

I got the EF 24-105L IS USM... Most of the time it is on either my 1Dmk2 or 7D... A very good walkabout lens :) some user might not like the 24mm side on a 1.6x bOdy but it doesn't bother me. Just take nice pictures :)

How about JPEG files? I seldom shoot RAW files as it takes lots of time to do processing ..

This address features a comparison between 7D and D7000 hands on review. I would say the D7000 out performance the 7D but still I would stick to the 7D as Canon is in my blood!

One question to ask all those who own both 7D body and grip. Dont know is it just me alone? even though I own the grip, but I feel that my shots are better without the grip on. I feel that the grip is 'moving' no matter how hard I screwed to the 7D tripod mount. I always like to take off the grip to shoot during my assignments.

I am using the BG-E7. MOunted on tripod (with 70-200mm f2.8) it is ok, but hand held shots is CMI, maybe too old to hold heavy equipment le :)

Yah... Young is so good :) Taking of off loading the 70-200 f2.8 and just go for a 200mm f2.8, which is quite light.

Does the "Made in Where" important to you? Or is the specs and features = image quality gives a better edge? Made in Japan does not necessarily mean better quality images or features.
