I was considering the 5diii earlier. But it seems the 6d should be sufficient for my needs now. Savings of a couple of hundreds can go into a better lens. Keep the reviews going. Useful info guys!

I was considering buying the 24-70 II, and this pop out......... I was thinking of FF for a long time, but I have no standard zoom for FF... 17-55mm.... but I have decent primes..... 28-105 mkII......mmm....

I was quite sure 6D performance is not gonna be that bad, and I used 400D before 7D.... and I survived 400D in quite a few events using mostly centre AF spot. But if FF... need higher ISO and F or will ooF.....

I am wondering if I should consider body or lens first..... body price will drop faster... lens value will hold longer... and maybe they have a IS 24-70 F2.8 later???

MMMM...............

Since you've 7D now, maybe the lens first? Unless your current body is give you more problems during events than your lens, then probably body first lor.

Price of 5D3 was too high above my budget............ and as a hobbyist..... not making money out of it.... it does not make sense to me....

Hi all, new owner of 6D!

However, anyone facing problems using Nissin 622 Mk1 with 6D?

Set to TTL and the flash doesn't trigger.

The NR of 6D is wonderfull. But then again I upgraded from 550D so maybe it's just that all FF are this good with NR.

My intent was to use 7D for 3 to 4 yrs.... but ff price is just so tempting. ...... the 6D..

I do shoot portraits n food n a ff can make lots of diff too......

If body price drop faster ..... the depreciation will be higher than lens n make sense to get the lens first.....

Hey.... heard you jump to Nikon n on d 800? ??

Purchase of interchangeable lens cameras must always be based on specialized needs. Shallow or deep DOF? Fast single shot AF? Multiple shots with tracking? EVF vs OVF? Otherwise, a compact camera is good enough. :D

I went from compact camera to APS-C to FF / micro43 because of changing needs. When I am old and retired, I shall switch back to APS-C... unless mirrorless cameras can satisfy my bug macro needs (fast AF, high quality telephoto macro lens)...

Avsquare's forum posting seems to indicate he got a D600... swapped for D800E... now selling his D800E... complicated. :bsmilie:

Ya.... it all depend on your requirement and your subjects.... what you wanna shoot and what type of effects you like to achieve...

I am trying to be stable in the sense that I do not want to cycle thru different brands, sensor etc... as that is gonna be an expensive route.... that is why I stick to Canon forum.... thankfully, Fuji did me some favors by having some minor issue with their X series....

I cannot stick to a compact, for some unknown reason to myself too.... just do not feel at home shooting without DSLR.... the FF appeal to me for portraits and marco.... and getting the bokeh... and using 85mm f1.8 and 135mm f2 @ the range without needing to convert to 1.6 aspc factor... I have primes to pair up with the FF body, but no standard zoom for the FF body. Only an old 28-105mm f2.5-4.5 mkII will works with FF body... Though I know that the FF have much advantage too over the APSC bodies I have now.....

I like the bokeh of f2.8 on a ff... it is different with a APSC f2.8.... that's something that interests me.....

Nah.... will just hang on a while, and wait for some price movement first..... 6D and 24-70 f2.8 II is not gonna to move anything yet since both are quite new.... expect 6D price to fall after 3 mths. If market response is poor, the price drop could be faster, since it is target at the hobbyist.... plus world economy poor performance..... 24-70 II market segment is the PRO, so the price is not gonna to drop that much in the short term.... more like 1-1.5 years later.... plus now there is a shortage of 24-70mm II.....

When I am old... I hope that FF compact or rangefinder will be affordable......... plus light and handy.... ;)

Oh... avsq.......... I thought he had 5D3... and did he went to D600 then, D800 and back??? It is too messy..... I tend to stick to one route.....

Bro avsquare iirc had a 600D, then 60D, then 5DMK2, then 5DMK3, then 1DX, then D800E, and currently D600.

He too had a 1DMK4, forget was it with the MK2 or MK3.

I'm just a hobbyist playing around and experiencing the different camera bodies and lens while learning and improving at the same time.. I don't really have a huge need since I'm mostly taking portraits and I would probably take the same thing if you give me a 60D or 1DX.. But my hands are just itchy to experience the cameras and lens. Some guys plays with watches, some guys play with golf, some guys plays with bikes, some guy plays with cars.. I'm just a guy playing with cameras *embarassed* :bsmilie:

wow...what a long list....

Haha. That's good to hear despite of the cold weather the battery still can last so long.

@ahpan i shot the entire day with the GPS on, kept going on and on. I was left with 2 bars at approximately 9pm or so...

So that tells you how efficient the battery life is. The remote utility will prove super functional also because I was literally fumbling with the remote controller for the 1dx. It is extremely painful to do photography at night in winter here.Bone Chilling!

bro, you must have spent really a lot on photography. lol
