Kai really knows how to make a camera review awesome while being a troll

I'm in london now and I did most of my shooting on the first day with the 6D.

All I can say is..this entry level full frame seriously packs some beautiful image quality. Great colors and dynamic range and an easy to use AF that even my other half could use.Not to mention that it is extremely inconspicous and does not stand out from the DSLR market. When I was using the 1Dx, some guy wanted to change cards with me because he thought my camera looked professional.

Suffice to say I'll be shooting the paris leg with the 6D. Entirely trustable and I super love the GPS function.:)

Great findings. How's the battery life with gps turned on? Significantly shorter life per charge?

but not on a DSLR? lol...

Feel like going down to Canon @ Harbourfront to test out the 6D vs 5DMkIII... Do you guys know if they have test sets there?

Yes they have test sets for both. I just tried them on Sunday.

They have demo units as usual.

That's great to hear. :) I agree on the great beautiful image quality and great colours. I did my test shots, the results are amazing as good as 5D3 which I used before. Probably you would like to share with us your Paris shots when u come back? :D

The first RAW comparison of 5D3 vs 6D vs D600 is out: see here. Note that DCRAW only has tentative support for 6D now.

However, as expected, 6D trumps the 5D3 at both low and high ISO. 6D is also better than D600 at high ISO at the pixel level but low ISO shadows are still Sony sensors' forte.

Addendum: For DPReview and those of you who do not believe Canon will implement a better sensor into a cheaper body, here's your lesson - you are WRONG! :bsmilie:

Indeed...

Sometimes we r too geeky, nick picking every feature of a camera like no 100% VF, no cross type, no mag ally and no cf card as if they will make u a better photographer.

True, true. Look at this EXIF analysis of Reuters photos of the year (2012).

Most commonly used camera: 1D4 (36.1%), 5D2 (26.4%), 5D3 (11.1%)

Notwithstanding its limited low ISO dynamic range, single cross hair sensor, banding issues etc, the 5D2 can still deliver the goods under trying conditions.... in the hands of the right photographer of course. :D Not bad, not bad.

First complete 6D review by a photographer spotted

Product Review: Canon 6D ‹ Jonathan Thorpe

"In conclusion I have to say I'm very pleased with the 6D over my MKii, its a pretty big upgrade from it. It retains all the ability of any professional level camera, and honestly any professional with a high skill level, can produce amazing images with damn near any camera. The addition of the wi-fi being built into the camera is a big selling point for me and my career. If I had to compare it to an iphone it would be like this: MKii=iPhone 4 6D=iPhone4S MKiii=iPhone5 I really hope that makes sense. The 6D is incredibly similiar to the MKiii, so if you wanna save nearly $2,000 and upgrade from a MKii or 7D buy yourself a 6D, if you have a MKiii, keep it."

Hmm, unless my memory fails me, no way the 6D is "a bit bigger than a 7D"...

Here you go.

"Canon EOS 6D is 3.7 mm narrower and 0.2 mm shorter than Canon EOS 7D.
Canon EOS 6D is 2.3 mm thinner than Canon EOS 7D.
Canon EOS 6D [770 g] weights 10% (90 grams) less than Canon EOS 7D [860 g] (*inc. batteries and memory card)."

Lesson: never trust a reviewer who reviews by memory, and not hard facts.

@ahpan i shot the entire day with the GPS on, kept going on and on. I was left with 2 bars at approximately 9pm or so...

So that tells you how efficient the battery life is. The remote utility will prove super functional also because I was literally fumbling with the remote controller for the 1dx. It is extremely painful to do photography at night in winter here.Bone Chilling!

Any indicative price for the 24-70L f4 IS?

you are right the 6D is smaller.

but just a bit. doesnt matter and nt worth considering at all. but 95% of the reviewer content can be relied on bah. lets not discredit him just becoz 3% of his content are wrong. :)

i know its natural tendency for human to only point out mistake and overlook all the goods other ppl have done.

great to hear good battery life:) when ppl first hear abt gps, they said nay... battery gonna suck.
when ppl hear 650D has touchscreen, they said nayy...no less and prefer physical control. but reviewers said its actually very functional navigating thru the menu and sensitive and fast.
same again for 60D flippy screen, ppl said useless, compromise on build quality, but at the end ppl love it so much to shoot video and extreme angle.

Canon knows what we want better than we know ourselves. LOL

I was considering the 5diii earlier. But it seems the 6d should be sufficient for my needs now. Savings of a couple of hundreds can go into a better lens. Keep the reviews going. Useful info guys!
