Official Canon EOS 60D User Thread Part I

No matter how weatherproof it is, you have to consider if your lenses are weatherproof too. In anycase, unless my life or my ricebowl depends on the shots, I don't think it's worth continue shooting in the rain. If it rains, I would continue shooting indoors :)

60D has quite a solid build for a "plastic camera", the feeling is good when holding it as compared to the xxxD.

Recently I went into a swimming pool with 400D(without water casing) to shoot my daughter playing with the water. There was a moment when I was caught off guard and she just splashes the water at me, I was too late to dodge so camera is wet. I dried the camera immediately and it is working fine. So I believe the new horses should be the same or better than the old horses....;)

Thanks for the feedback guys. Think I'll just avoid the rain as best as possible.

Actually when I 1st mounted my 50mm F1.4, the focusing is not working at all and I got panic......after remounting, the lens is working.....thats a relief....

Can I ask what is back focusing problem? Heard of it but do not know what is it like....hopefully I will not face such problem.

Don't end up worrying about back focusing first. Use the lens well and if you don't find any problem ... forget it. It is strange tons of people start worrying about back/front focus the moment they buy lenses or when they screw up during focusing. :bsmilie:

I used the 17-55 F2.8 IS USM on both bodies, the 60D focuses better as compared to 400D. Lens speed is the same on both bodies. So I will say the focusing is faster as it does not search so much especially under low light.....does that consider faster?

Ah, I believe that is contributed by the AF sensor. 400D has only one cross type AF sensor while the 60D have 9 cross type sensor. Hence the increase in AF sensitivity.

Hi to all 60D owners,

Just like to check if anyone is having a problem recording video with their 60D? I tried to record but memory meter appear shortly like around 10 sec then the recording will auto terminate.

I am using a SanDisk ultra 16GB (Class 4) and Standard 8GB(Class 4), both have the same issue. And I do remember when I 1st got the the cam, the video recording last longer....

Any solution?

Think u will need a faster card... maybe a class 6? I thought Sandisk ultra should be more than enough...

Are you using class 4 and tried on the video function?

Purposely went to get an Ultra 16GB to expand the memory and now not enough...
So need the Extreme SD?

i also encountered the same problem with the free SD card that came with the camera.
You can record the video in low resolution, but at HD, it will terminate after 10 secs.
You need at least a Class 6. I got a Class 10 and its working perfectly now.

Hi...thanks for sharing!!!

OMG...just got a 16GB SanDisk Ultra Class 4 and thought I am able to use it for video

So is your Class 10 SD the SanDisk Extreme or other brands? Care to share the type and price?:)

which wireless remote controller is compatible for 60D

Got kingston which is a class 10 card. Not too sure whether it is able to cope with HD recording... About the same price as Ultra... Extreme is extremely expensive...

BTW, I just did a test using Lexar Platinum II 8gb SDHC class 4 card... can record full HD (1920 @ 25fps) for 12 minutes plus... But I am taking video of erm.... totally nothing so i dunno whether it will affect or not... by right it doesn't matter....

Hmm...then how can mine not working...gonna try formatting the cards later....
