Between a used set (about $3.2k with a few months of warranty left) and a grey set from DD ($3.5k), which would you guys buy?

I bought most of my gears from technogadgets. So far so good. The only hassle is u have to go to their office to collect the stuff.

I'll pick the grey set (assuming it's definitely new). For parallel importers, I'll choose technogadgets over DD..

DD seems to have quite some issues since the moment they closed down their office in SG a couple of years back (not sure about now).
TG, bought quite some stuffs from them, no problems, but as mentioned, you have to either go down to their office on weekdays or add a courier service of $XX to send to your doorstep.

Thanks all! I just found out that DD has 1+2 years in-house warranty vs TG's 1 year. I think that's a very big plus point! And they have an office in Singapore now at Kapo Factory Building.

Anybody here has any problem claiming warranty from DD?

I'll strongly advice you to read a couple of reviews on DDE before making decisions.

the below one is more recent..

I've also upgraded quite some time ago from the 7D to 5D3. I haven't noticed anything unusual about the shutter button however I have heard of one other person having the same problem as you. I think that the best thing to do is bring it to CSC and have them look at it. Hopefully your purchase was a new 5D3 that is under warranty.

That is a feature, more sensitive means lesser lag. I "downgraded" from 1D series to 5D and I notice that 5D is less sensitive!

Hey guys, does anyone here using 5D3 for video? Something like wedding actual day? Any problem with hot pixel or sensor overheat?

I'm using D800 & D7000 at the moment and both got problem with hot pixel on high iso (640 and up) and it is really annoying, especially when doing the editing.

As I'm doing video more than photo nowadays, I'm tempted to move to canon if this can solve my problem..

Finally i grabbed 5D mark III kit with 24-105 yesterday from cathay @4899

Within the 1 year "shop warranty"... you bring to Canon to repair, then send the bill to TG to claim....

Canon will most likely service your gear no matter what. There have been instances of service refusal in rare cases. For the most part, gray sets and out-of-country equipment are honoured by Canon as long as payment is understood. Most of my equipment has been purchased in Hong Kong and neither Canon Singapore or Canon Canada has ever refused me service... after-all, it is money in their pocket.

Be prepared to pay more when you send in gray set as compared to local set.

Really? Has that been your experience?... just asking... cause I have no idea why Canon would differentiate on the basis of source acquisition.
