OFFICIAL: CANON EOS 5D Mark III - User Thread - Part 5

The salesperson that serve was me was rather experience in the sense that he knows what's best for his customer.
Won't forget that he
I will no doubt go back to him again for new lenses in the future.

I prefer these kinds of sales reps too. It shows that he cares more about the customer than the almighty dollar. I would definitely go back to these kinds of sales people rather than the hard sell, push til you drop and sell, sell, sell, buy, buy, bye.

For me a grip is a must. Back in film days where SLRs have what they called then 'motordrives'
which serves as a 'grip' and also to advance film I always have it on them.So when I bought
the Contax RTSIII with a built in winder I fashioned a 'grip' for that extra hold.

I have the Contax RTS II Quartz and I also have the motordrive. Great combo and for me they've never been separated. However, there is a big difference in size and weight between the Contax and Canon 5D3. The Contax with motordrive is not that big whereas the Canon 5D3 is a monster in comparison. At least that is how I remember it. Of course I was much younger and stronger when my main camera was the Contax which may explain why I feel it was so small and light in comparison. :)

thank you everyone, for taking the time to chime in with your comments.

so far, handling the camera with a heavy lens like the 24-70 is a little bit cumbersome. i feel it is a little unbalanced without a grip, especially with large heavy lenses. nonetheless, i think i will try it for a few days without a grip for now, and purchase one later on if i feel i really need it.

The best way to try before you buy is to rent a grip. I believe the fee is only $10.

I can recommend this sales person to anyone interested, he's a senior sales rep at Harvey Norman main branch.
He shouldn't be that hard to spot but take note that he's a very smart sales guy.
If you don't sound like buying or just checking prices, he will treat you like normal customer.
If you sound like a sincere buyer, willing to talk and negotiate to meet your needs he will serve you with his expertise.

I just updated my 5Dmkiii with the latest firmware. Will test it out during tomorrow's coy event, hopefully I don't get
any issue otherwise I need to visit the service centre.

Power and nice shot..

What is the setting ? care to share?

Thanks.

It certainly is an eye catching photo! I am curious to know the background of the photo; ie. purpose, characters, who, what, where, when and why?

Hi all,

I had just purchased the new 5D, I would like to check with the seniors, how come I cannot set my auto ISO and min shutter speed when my flash is power on?

Without flash.. I'm able to set to min 1/125 & max 12800 (ISO).

Thanks.

when flash is used, auto iso will default to ISO 400. if you want a different ISO, set it manually.

I've just upgraded from Canon 7D to 5DIII.
I find that the shutter button is rather sensitive as compared to 7D, as it triggers occasionally while in auto focus half press.

Has anyone had the same experience, and is this normal?

I've also upgraded quite some time ago from the 7D to 5D3. I haven't noticed anything unusual about the shutter button however I have heard of one other person having the same problem as you. I think that the best thing to do is bring it to CSC and have them look at it. Hopefully your purchase was a new 5D3 that is under warranty.

Assign in custom menu to disable AF for half press shutter button, leaving the rear AF-ON button as main AF.

It's just an off shoot during a makeover photo session for the two ladies in red. In between suggested some fun antics featuring the guy stylist
and the MUA. The two ladies are ball room dancers .Shot in our company's studio.
