OFFICIAL: CANON EOS 5D Mark III - User Thread - Part 5

Hi, I recently brought a sandisk extreme CF card 64GB with 120MB/s speed. After shooting about 1.2K plus photos .. the speed for the card became slow and I lost shot that was not capture on the card. It also fail to read some of my photos in the card. What I did was i manage to copy all the photo that it can read to the SD card and i reformat the card. In doing that I lost about 400+ photos which the camera cannot read. After that it was working fine, until i took about another 600 to 700 photos. when I was transfering into the computer, i lost about another 50+ photo due to JPG file corrupt. Does anyone have any of this issue on the new extreme CF card? It is really heartbreaking when you lost so many pictures..

I have the same problem as well.
I bought the 32MB and lost about 40 photos.
Seems that the new speed CF has reliability issue

You mean the 32GB card right? When you mean lost, may I know if the files were corrupted, that you have difficulty transferring it, difficulty reading the file in the dSLR or the computer, or that it simply disappeared?

I got same problem with the 32 CF card 120MB/s.
Once has the error it will spread to others photo in that card. Camera will display 'Cannot playback the image' then when using CF card it will cause computer hang.
The way I solved it is to delete the photo got error from the camera then after that transfer the remaining photo using card reader.
Use the rescue program from sanddisk to retrieved all the deleted photos.
All error photos was rescued successfully.
Hope this method can help you guys

So after getting the photo back, are you going to use the card again?
I am not sure i am going to use my 64GB again .. cannot afford to lost photo and then delete and recover it.
Is it just the 5D issue or is it the card issue?

BTW : I purchase a software "Corrupted Photo recovery Pro" .. it work like charm .. even i format my card i still manage to recovery the 400+ photos and now just missing 5 unaccountable Photos. :D

The same question Is it Card or Camera but so far only that card others is ok even the extreme pro is ok 160 MB/s so far the problem is 120 MB/s

I will use that card as my last back up card :) at least the error photo still can be recovered but the process will take time

Should be GB not MB.

The file is corrupted, can not be transferred out and can't be viewed in the camera itself.

Tried using the recovery software but also not detected. Managed to recover other deleted photos but not those corrupted ones.

I notice that the space is taken by newer photos. Coz some newer photos are happened recovered in between those corrupted space. Otherwise all are in sequence order.

I wrote to SanDisk and arranged for RMA. Will get replacement with the Extreme Pro 160 MB/s.

Should be card corrupted. ... hmmm... Have been using sandisk for ages. ... never have such problem. .. Think it's lifetime warranty? Bring back to agent for replacement bah.....

I am using a new 32G scandisk ( yellow/gold sticker) one. Last use took over 600 plus photos but when take out and try read from my laptop through card reader, it shows zero files in it... I was shock. But lucky got still got sd card but only left JPEG ones. Lost all raw files.....

Pretty scary san disk story. Maybe etick to smaller card n more cards better.

I agree. I've been reading these posts over the past week or so and it doesn't support the total confidence I once had for Sandisk cards.

Think there once the SD cards (forget which series) also has some problem.

Just to update

I went to the distributor agency of sandisk singapore and can get replacement but I decide to upgrade to the Pro version.
You need the original receipt and you must have the agent sticker on it mean must be sold by reputable shop like Cathay.

Spoke with them, many has problem with Nikon D4 but they said Nikon will update firmwire. Not sure about Canon, because not many complaint from Canon.

do anyone faced any issue with live view? sometimes when i press the live view button nothing happens, but it works again if i re-focus or adjust. so far i am not sure when exactly i encounter this issue. this happend to me two times so far. need to figure out exact issue.

I have not personally encountered this issue but let us know what buttons are pressed that consistently produce this phenomenon so that we can try it on our own cameras. We can then confirm whether or not it is a firmware issue.

May it is due to magic lantern. I removed magic lantern and upgraded to latest firmware. So far it's ok.

Finally make my purchase on 5D Mark III after looking at reviews and youtube videos for the past 3 months. :)

Congratulations and welcome to the club!

very good body.. and price very high too..

Been a while since I visited Clubsnap, Happy New Year to everyone.
I agree as I switch from Canon 650D to 5D mk II.
Double the price and huge performance improvement.
The only thing sometimes I don't like when attending outings or events.
You get the stare from others that other's DSLR is smaller than mine.
LOL!
