OFFICIAL: CANON EOS 5D Mark III - User Thread - Part 5

Yup, all the feedback appear very positive. The problem I am facing is - I couldnt downgrade my firmware from 1.2.1 to 1.3.1 in order to try it.
Would appreciate if someone can share how to downgrade the firmware.

The Bracketing HDR is indeed very intriguing.

Yes, all the feedback appears to be positive. I still need to see it before I can comfortably contemplate using it. Perhaps a Youtube video will suffice but I would rather see a personal demonstration.

If I'm not mistaken, it is Ver. 1.2.1

Where to find the firmware update...?

I tried Canon Singapore website and try searching the firmware update, it did not have any update for 5D mk3...

My current firmware is 1.1.2

Really love CS...

Helpful, skillful and knowledgable..

Updated my cam.... Love you all deep deep....!

Wondering how many ppl here uses after-market VG then original Canon VG BG-E11? Also anyone using after-market VG with any L-bracket?

Hi all, I just recently upgraded to 5Dmk3.
Would like to know if anyone have any issues after upgrading their firmware 1.2.1?
Does CSC do firmware update as well or issit gonna just be a DIY thingy?

actually i am just curious, whether every 5DMK3 owner needs to upgrade to the new firmware or not.

or everyone is just upgrading for the sake of upgrading?

I never upgrade.

I haven't upgrade yet too. Lazy to do .. :p
Also bit worry the new firmware may have conflict with some 3rd party stuffs. So gonna see for while if any report of conflict.

I have upgraded to firmware 1.2.1 and have experienced no problems with it. I've heard that 3rd party batteries do not report their charge correctly but that is easily over-come. Others who have experienced this first hand can probably comment on it better.

Firmware upgrades can be done on your own. CSC will do them also but there will be a charge. It is very easy to do on your own. Canon provides very good step-by-step instructions. I've done several on many cameras over the years.

Raydio, thanks for the info. :)

I'm getting abit irritated with the slow response when I hook up my cam with speedlite. With AF-assist beam its abit slow for focus lock on. I understand that 1.2.1 should have solved this issue but is it any faster? Currently i turn off the AF-assist but sometimes in event shoots there are very dim light situation where the AF-assist comes in handy.

Sometimes it is not upgrading for the sake of upgrade...

I uses the cam without upgrading... Only recently when I bought a new lens... And the old firm wear did not include correction for the new lens... So upgrade loh...

But, to me, the recent upgrade is good...

3rd party batteries work perfectly fine on my cam.

Focusing has significantly improved with AF assist too as I mostly shoot in low lighting scene.

Has anyone tried Eye-Fi SD cards with Geotagging with the 5D3?

Is it worth it?

Had been usinf eyefi card with my 60d n now 5dm3. But never really use the geotagging. Thanks

Guys, everytime when we switch on/off the camera we'll hear the flip lockup sound..like manual mirror lockup. Suddenly just now, my camera doesn't do that anymore.. What's wrong? Before this my button hangs..
