Thanks for the recommendation. Just wondering does the eyepiece get in the way when you switch from shooting landscape (horizontal) to portrait (vertical)? I wouldn't want to keep turning the eyepiece when I switch orientation.

Don't think so. Anyway the eyepiece is really easy to rotate. It's made with good quality rubber.

Hi everyone. I went down to Canon Showroom, wanting to try the EF40mm STM on 5D mark 3, but there was none. I asked the shop assistant if I can shoot video with the EF40MM STM with auto focus, they say "can". However, I searched the web, it says that only cameras with the new Hybrid CMOS AF can use auto focus in video mode with the new range of STM lenses.
So, can 5D Mark 3 use the auto focus feature in video mode when paired with the EF40mm STM lens?

Anyone?

Finally decided to sell away my 2470mkI and go for the mkII as I think I will benefit from it more than any other lens since its my most used lens.
Hope I don't regret it...

You won't regret to change to a mk ii. I had been using the mark i quite long and sold it to get a mark ii on my 5d mark iii. The wt ratio between the body and mk ii lens just nice. I feel is the best combo

No, it can't. Only the EOS 650 can focus with STM lenses while shooting video. This is an old issue. I guess the next release of full-frame EOS cameras will have hybrid AF as well.

Never notice this until i read this and try it out myself!
Could be i never use AF in video mode ...

I don't even know how to shoot video with MF... lol... in fact... it is like a white elephant.... :embrass:

Just found out MF also not working for this lens during video ... My lens problem or it is suppose to be like this ?

Sold my 2470mkI to a nice buyer last night and I will kinda miss my lens. Something about the big hood that makes my 5D3 look more fierce esp with battery grip on.

Wanted to get a sigma 50 f/1.4 at first to bridge the gap between my 1635 and 70200 but I guess somehow I am too used to the 2470 range.

Think its a sign for the 2470mkII liaos...

Most problems are not good. This one however is one of those rare problems that can make people envious!

Got my lens and I must say somehow the lens (minus the hood) looks and feel very solid. Weight wise its lighter but as chen1985 mentioned in an earlier post, it feels great with the 5D3.

First shot with the combo and quick touchup in LR.

OT: Stupid thing refuse to move even with my lens in its "face" at mfd. Maybe I should let my doggy go hunt it.

Just tried out the Mk III at the vivocity showroom. Very impressed by it's light shutter, LCD-type focusing screen (similarly to 7D) and its burst mode with the 's' which makes the shutter even lighter and speedier!

Darn...now I feel for an upgrade! The force is strong! :angry:

Very good already.... until now I still not yet touch the 5DMKIII, yet already kena poison deep deep just by reading about it.... :sweat:... cannot imagine if I go touch it... probably run way with it.... :embrass:
