Maybe from other shops that are authorised dealers. Quite common. For example J3:16 isn't a Nikon authorised dealer but buying from them is not a problem because they get their stocks from authorised dealers.

hmm, i actually am ready to pull the trigger at OP but this little issue kinda gets on me.

but i really like their service leh.

Shouldn't bother you because as long as the warranty is covered by Canon SG, they(OP) are merely a reseller.

ok, i not sure about this, cause' the other time(which is long time ago), i got my 7D from MS Color and the warranty card was stamped by them. if i were to buy from OP, will their stamp be valid? even for gift redemption also?

yes i know that nowadays nobody flashes their warranty card at service centre anymore, all go through online registration already.

but i just want to be sure that all things are a go, make it a positive buying experience yeah.

i have MS Color in mind also but i don't like the idea of bringing so much cash around(OP can pay by netts).

Woah good question about the validity of their stamp for gift redemption man. But I am quite positive as long as its a local warranty set, Canon will honour the warranty. But yea good idea to check with Canon to be honest. Sorry I can't be of much help here.

Eh? MS also can use NETS no? But not sure if they charge extra for NETS.

think tomorrow i call Canon to check it out. meanwhile, anyone who any insights, please share it here, thanks.

MS cannot use netts leh, the e-quote explicitly states "CASH ONLY".

reply the e-quote ask them if can pay NETS or not lor.

that time I asked Cathay to quote 17-40L, they give 10XX but state cash only, I reply back as can pay by CC, they say can without charge.

Should be same as MS, can ask one bah.

haha, difficult for them to reply. email the first time, wait one day but nothing. i have to forward my price query to them again, before i get a reply.

think tmr i call.

if u hv the local warranty card, just key in online n it should go through. For gift redemption, just bring the receipt n warranty. they will check online tt u hv registered the item with Canon Sing n the dates tally with the receipt.

Ok I just called Canon, spoke to a CSO by the name of Eileen.

She told me that gift redemption is checked via serial number and warranty card registration number. As long as the online registration is ok, meaning you key in whatever info and it goes through, then warranty and gift redemption will be valid.

The warranty card will still need to be stamped by the shop, in case they wanna check. Though she said that they can't actually trace the goods after the stuffs are distributed to the dealers. Just stamp it, was what she said.

will keep you guys updated on monday hopefully CSC could do something for me. Damn heart pain. Take so much care of it and now it turns out to be like that.

Dirty sensor is common. CSC will charge for cleaning of sensors, or there are commercial products to DIY. I suggest the latter as you can't have CSC clean sensors whenever and wherever.

Finally joined this club! :)

You should buy 24-70 ii instead of 16-35

I'm sorry, but why? Does it occur to you that people buy things that they want for various reasons, other than what you think applies to you?

Neither lens is a replacement for the other, so how did you come up with the conclusion that a 24-70 is better for him? I won't even bring whether it's the MkI or MkII. What you have are two vastly different lenses that gives you different results.

+1 to that.

Please go and buy your marvellous TS-E 24 instead. Don't tell others how to spend their money when they didn't ask you. Kthxbye.

HAHAHAHA Ya lor. The hood sooooo cool leh.

Easy guys... I'm sure that dtwatson was just trying to help in his own way. Let's show some love, after-all he is a brand new poster and perhaps a little inexperienced in how we do things around here. Give him time and we may all learn from him one day. :)

Congrats technica! I hope that you enjoy the 5D3 as much as the rest of us. The 16-35 will also be a great addition. Post some photos with that combo.
