I've only seen two shops that offer used camera equipment at the Peninsula Plaza. Both are located on the ground floor next to Cathay Photo. Are there more on the upper levels.... I've never ventured above the ground floor.

Peninsula Plaza where Cathay is located is a different building from Peninsula Shopping Centre. PSC is sandwiched between Funan n Excelsior Hotel.

Thanks noted. I don't believe I've ever ventured there before. I guess I'll be exploring the area for future reference.

You should, there have quote an extensive collection of old stuff and manual lens. The legendary 50mm f/1L is also there :bsmilie:

The legendary 50mm f/1L... wow, I've only heard but never seen this lens. It must be worth a fortune!

It's quite minty and good condition. Asking price, IIRC is $4,800 :bsmilie:

Oh my gosh, $4,800!!!

I can only imagine the other kinds of camera equipment I could buy with this kind of cash!

Enough to buy a 50L + 85L. :bsmilie:

35L is better color rendition

The Leica 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M!

Huge difference, the Leica is manual focus, the Canon 50/1 is autofocus.

It's a lens that was not very well received when it was released. There were a lot of bad copies, it was not unusual to try out 6 before finding one that was sharp. But once you get a good copy it's an amazing lens.

If I am not mistaken, the main problem now is that Canon has announced that they have run out of parts and will no longer service this lens and the lens motor has been known to be problematic. One of the reasons why the lens was discontinued to begin with.

Just curious, which shop please?

forgot the name, could be Camera Workshop. The place is damn small, and there's only one shop has it, it's displayed on the shop window display, you can't miss it. That shop is one of the biggest sized shops there too.

And that lens has been there for the longest time...

Just gotten mine from CP @ MS, Patrick for $5200 nett regardless cash or cc installment. Using ocbc for 24mths payment. Checked out TK, J316, AP, SLRR, etc.. CP still the best price; understand offer valid till end of month. Btw, it's not from batch 1 or 2 (mine is batch 6) so no worries if you were wondering abt the LCD light leak issue :)

How can you tell from which batch it's coming from?
