I find the first one the hardest to believe.

Well, it is indeed that cheap in Indonesia. That's why many of our grey sets here are from Indonesia. If you are already finding these grey sets' prices attractive, imagine how cheap it is to get it from Indonesia (after factoring in the profit margin our grey set sellers here are earning) ;p

Not really, I can get cheaper than that in Malaysia, which comes with 2 years warranty (compare to 12+3 in Singapore) and the Canon service center in JB is just 15min drive from custom.

depends lah.. I not very into the grey set market so I'm not very well informed, but from the usual bro at MO I buy from, and my GF's colleague (Indonesian Chinese, whereby this lady's husband is also into Canon DSLR system) info, Indonesia is really cheap :bsmilie:

gonna roll on the streets with the mark iii this weekend

Grey set got no warranty but mine got 2 years warranty in Malaysia

If you are in singapore most of the time, going to JB is definitely easier than going indonesia in case of warranty claim.

Otherwise, getting from indonesia is as good as grey set if the warranty not valid in Singapore

Agreed, buying from JB makes sense if one frequents JB. If not, just any grey that is cheapest :)

indonesia price is far more better then sg price for sure =)

Hi. Would like to ask how good is our 5d Mk III when it comes to preventing water going in. I've recently took my camera on both occasions to the water park at zoo and sentosa and had water splashed all over my camera. You know how kids are with water guns and those sly positioned buckets that seem to load off their water on you when you least expect.

I do wipe it dry of course before heading to the dry cabinet but was wondering is it really safe.

I don't of course submerge it.

Shouldn't be of a problem. my 5D2 (prior to 5D3) was challenged in cold rain before, no problem came up. 5D3 was said to have improved weather sealing by Canon compared to 5D2, so you should be safe.

7d is immortal, so is the mark 3 :)

My friends thought I was nuts when I splashed water from a swimming pool onto my 5DIII + 24-105 f4. ;p Just shook it dry and started shooting. That was a month ago, I didn't even do additional maintenance like putting the cam in the dry cabinet when I got home.

Feel relieve. Yahoo. Thought I'm the only idiot doing that. OK. That's a relieve.

To ensure longevity of camera, which is a better way to transfer files from the CF/SD card? Remove cards from camera (risk wearing out the camera connector pins?) and use card reader? Or use the USB cable (and risk wearing out the camera USB connection)?

Just remove it and use a card reader. As long as you don't insert in wrongly or force the card in, the pins shouldn't give you problems.

If you really are concerned about theses issues, placing your camera in a dry cabinet would ensure longevity.

With BG E-11 hitting our stores soon, the Pixel Vertax is also being launched as well. Both grips are for the Mkiii. Just wondering any csers will purchase the Pixel one, or any other compatible brands as and when they launch.

The canon one is retailing at estimate 339 USD and the Pixel is likely at 110 USD.

Functions as claimed by Pixel is exactly the same, with the same weather proofing as the mkiii.

Thoughts?
