The 3rd paty LP-E6 sold to me by TK has worked fine for about 2 years

Yes, this is why I say my cam battery is quite ok. I mean 843 shots is quite close to the description on the 5D3 manual, though they mentioned one fully charged battery can last for about 950 shots under normal temperature. Correct me if I am wrong.

i think canon tested by shooting 950shots in an hour

I wouldn't bet on that!

I agree. At the end of the day it is still based on economical sense. Business decisions. So customer loyalty will not count much.

Which brand you got? Comparison to the original, how many shots can you squeeze out of each full charge?

Guys, I just tried to fix my CZ 50mm f1.7 to the mkiii. Guess what. It does not work. The mkiii cannot recognize the lens thus doesn't allow me to release the shutter. Not sure if it's due to the cheap confirmation chip. Then I tried my Leica R 60mm lens. Damm, the adapter can't even fit onto my mkiii. Seems to be very tight. But it was able to fit on my 40D easily. This is really no good news as I have sold my 40D.

erm.. which mode are you in ?

I tried all mode. When I hook up the CZ lens, it says something like cannot upgrade firmware on the LCD. Sigh... Sian man. Looks like can only use "Canon" lenses or my confirmation chip sucks...

In any case, I highly doubt that Canon will scr3w early adopters over and drop the RRP too drastically over the next 1-1.5 years.

depends if the sales is up to expectation. if not, they can only drop price to attract buyer. if the statistic on my poll holds any truth (+/- 10% magrin of error), well over 50% is sitting on the fence waiting for the price to drop before justifying a buy. if the initial hype is over in 3-6months time, they may even have to drop sooner.

alamak.. hope my old c/y cz 85mm will work when i get my mkIII :S

i know the 16-35L II is great but i want to know how 'bad' the 17-40L is.

thanks for the links anyway!

Why does everyone say the 17-40 is bad?
Strangely, Ken Rockwell said otherwise…
Canon 17-40mm Performance
i've no complains with the 17-40 mainly because it's way cheaper than the 16-35 and it uses 77mm filters so all my existing filters wil work..dun need to find more expensive 82mm ones for the 16-35

i can't make an informed decision also, with so many varying reviews. filters are also a problem.

think really need to rent the lens and test it myself. :(

i tried looking up MTF charts, the 17-40L seemed as sharp as 10-22 at f8, both zoomed out to widest.

17-40mm is best used from 20mm and above and the corners are not that bad.... below 20mm, it is bad... but you buy a UWA for FF, and if 17-20mm corner is not sharp.. it could be an issue for some..... but on APS sensor.... I think it is still ok....... 17-40mm was my main lens till I got 17-55mm......

Do note that when you rent lens, lens variation does exist too......
