Canon should like start a line of weather protective wear for photogs like maybe goretex jacket or something and sell at a discount for those who bought weather sealed cameras like the 7D,5D3,1D series

I think we can probably get it cheaper on our own.. and for the Singaporean/PR photogs who has completed their NS, I am sure they still have their free gortex jacket from the SAF :bsmilie:

hehe well...if braving rough weather for a paid assignment, weather sealing comes in handy. If it is a casual shoot/camera test, no point getting wet

I will bring my 5D out tmr evening for a test at iLights, hopefully weather is better tmr

I have that too (the pre pixel one) but I have something against wearing army stuff out...

When did you ROD? Maybe you volunteer for reservist or extra ICT they will give you one.

accroding to Canon Support Staff - yes weather sealed but not like 1D series.. abit drizzle can, but try to wipe it off as soon as possible, and not advisable to subject the cam in heavy rain..

the way they say.. makes it sounded like the weather seal of 5D3 useless :bsmilie:

More like liability. If they tell you can, then it fails in the heavy rain, CSC can be liable for repairs because they told you can survive.

yup, but I feel that they should at least give a better "gauge" on how well the sealing can stand the weather.
we as the owner of these expensive stuff wouldn't want to subject the products to unnecessary dangers too, at least give a rough gauge lah.. haha..

yeah, I regretted giving all my stuff away to my mates in camp serving their time (when I left). In fact I had the technician's suit.. one-piece water proof suit lol.

Yeah a bit stupid lah but as I go for nature trips with my wife occasionally, that gore tex jacket would be useful. During my time I only worn it once in Australia then give back liao. They didn't even offer to give us. Tsk tsk..

Sell the 10-22 and 17-55, get 17-40L and 70-200L F4 IS. Then you can use both lenses on either body.

i have the 70-200L f4 IS already. i will sell 7D to get 5DMK3, not gonna keep any crop body liao.

Hi bro, I have uploaded a full-res 10MP file here: 00900-Y10.tif

Taken with 17-40L on 1D Mark III, 1/200s at f/11 @ 16mm. Saturation/colors was adjusted and some dust spots cloned out, sharpness was straight out of the camera with no USM applied.

You may compare center sharpness vs extreme corners. Take note again, that this was shot with an APS-H cropped sensor.

Just molested the 5Diii at Canon showroom at Vivocity. The feel is really good and strangely, I don't feel it as heavy. That said, it was paired with the 24-105 though. ISO at 12800 was clean and looks useable as well! Love it!

WOW means I got to ask them got 5D3 magazine liao or not, looks like they are moving fast. Last week I ask them when display set and mag come, they say dunno, maybe 1 week later or something. I guess maybe the vertical grip coming soon!
