I think the cameras are authentic but the customer service staff is fake.;)

Shops like Cathay Photo has been around for a long long time. No way they would be taking their stocks from non-official channels - especially for such well branded products.

Ya, right, they better dont cheat us on this. Otherwise, I think they will face the wrath of all of us liao. The shops listed in the Canon price guide section are all quite reputable, I think. Of course, CP is one of the "branded" shops there and they sell a bit ex than others also
I am still playing with the new AF system, see how accurate and fast it actually is.

Still, it's odd Canon at VivoCity didn't have it in stock.

I thought that was quite a difference, one at ISO 6400, the other at ISO 3200, no?? :dunno:

I guess I have an unrealistic expectation then. The 50D is a much older APS body. I have the feeling ISO 6400 doesn't look any better than from the mkII?

:) They sell cameras mate. They even have a store price list. Last time I went there I asked for the 5DmkII and they had it in stock.

no more stock left in the whole of SG?

Many shops in SLS still have a set or 2. Ask and nego properly and can bargain price down to 4250-4300 with GST. Was there this afternoon and managed to get a set for a buddy at 4200 nett. Most shop refused to drop below 4250/4300.

I just happened at Canon show room at vivo. I asked the staff there if the 5D mk3 was officially launch... He told me not yet... Supposing to be next week...

Then I asked him why there were already people got the camera... His reply.... The stock is not from their distribution channel.... I was like.. Huh???

Rubbish lah.. I just spoke to Canon people, they confirm that it is supposed to be in-store starting today, but they seemed a little surprised that some of us got it yesterday.
He said that he wasn't sure why there is a delay for their show room set, but mention that once their showroom set come, the product book and magazine should be avail.
He also mention that I can call in again to check for availability for BG-E11 about 3 weeks later, they are still ordering from their sales office. Same for G1X accessories, not here yet.

I forgot to ask them why on the serial number, going to call them up on Monday to ask. Or ask Matthew Koh, the guy in charge of the 5D3 launch.

Which shop? :)

Which shop? :)

Aiyo, don't make me post online lah. ;)

As said, most not willing to go below 4250/4300. Go ask around those so called "less reputable" shops. Just ask nicely and if not negotiable, thank them and walk away, no harm done.

Must give you a big salute of your great effort! ;)

Those who manage to get hold of the mkiii, did the new EOS Utility program come wtih the cam? Apparently the CD only consist of the instruction manual but no program to install. When I try to use my old EOS Utility to access the mkiii, it couldnt recognize the cam. Any idea?

There's supposed to be 2 discs in every box. One contains the drivers and software and the other the manuals.
