ic.. which part you feel hard to use? The external control or the design of the 'firmware'?

No double protection nor is it as good as the GGS. Just a simple protector like those on handphones. :)

blueacidic,
I recieved an invoice from canon by post about my warranty extention. My warranty is till 10-SEP-2013. Shoot until xiao... I think my shutter count might reach 5K already.

@as for the snag-it pro protector, it is actually my special request from a advertiser here. I urge him to bring in 550D protector as he only have protector for 450D & 500D, as well as other canon and nikon models. He is only willing to bring in if we can gather 20 people into it.

Please copy & paste this list for easier tracking.

Snug-it Pro MO
1. Soons
2. MaveWhite
3. ShooterSGP

As for 3rd party batteries if anyone is interested, so far locally, we have reddotphoto & sgcamerastore at $28, and the ebay 1 for $25 with free postage.

Oh yeah, last but not least, xc-pictorial (seller of $12 GGS screen protector) hinted me about 3rd party 550D grip. ;)

Is this MO still ongoing? Just got my cam too!

yeah, better if you get the GGS protector from mymonstercamera, if they still have stock

that's sad to hear. would be helpful if you share your issues with the control? so far the only control issue i encounter is thumb-pressing between the Q and Av buttons while peeping through the viewfinder. but that can take a getting used to...

in that case, yr kit 1 with yr digi backup shld be fine for light weight travelling and the hassle free switching of lens. just rem that you will be giving up the range for it so u just need to make do with it ya. =p

u say lidat ... i tink i might jus lug both the lens n go :embrass:

Mostly I will use Kit 1. Consider getting a 18-85mm or 18-200mm lens for your trip?

i m stil learning so i dun tink i'll be buying any lenses yet .... but i dun mind if anyone here can loan me 18-200 n give me a crash course :sweatsm:

Anyone got the original Battery Grip for our 550D, is the fitting good ?? Thinking of getting one for travelling use and also to add on the weight. Went to enquiry and it's $199 Cash payment , anyone here can share where to get it cheaper ?

you can rent that lens. it's not that expensive ;p

hey i got the original battery grip last month at a more expensive price :hung:
anyway, the camera feels more solid now. and shooting portraits is much more comfortable. it fits right in like it's one with the body :bsmilie: but yes it adds to the weight and bulk. my camera with bg barely fits into the free crumpler bag from canon.

Since you know it's on impulse, then dun get too rush...use for a longer period of time before you decide?

The more 550D bros the better!! :bsmilie:

But nevertheless, still hope you can find your most suited system..

Good luck!
:)

I just saw the GGS, looks solid! But from the way the GGS is applied, it means I have to remove my current screen protector first? Like that my 2 week old screen protector wasted leh. Blame it on my ignorance. Didn't know glass screen protectors exist. :embrass:

i jus wan to bring 1 ... dun tink got time to change lenses when u r following a guided tour n the 75-300 is rather heavy

i guess mostly will be sceneries ... n of course the infamous Sakura
i'll be bring along my digitalcam for back up

When are you going? The peak period for the sakura bloom is almost over. not to say there isn't any left.

Like most people say, take both! I think 18-55mm is abit limiting, and 75-300 too long if you want to shoot indoors, lets say, your hotel room?

Just realised i should post my pictures here too haha! just incase of auto-focus/back focus issues or sharpness and my eyes can't catch. Then sad le :sweatsm:

Hey ! Thanks for giving me your opinion !. I prefer my camera to be a little heavier.. I'm not too sure why but just my preference. I'll take portrait shots too, and sometime i feel a little hassle w/o the grip.

Bro, also, do u have problems removing the battery cap ? and do you store the battery cap into the grip too like the 7D battery grip as my neighbour has it too.

Finally got my FIRST DLSR. My 7 year wait is over!! Ive always used film. Now its time to be a noob again. I never had the money to buy. So unlike many people who think they are so good with photography and buy 7Ds or FFs, I guess starting with this awesome "entry level" DSLR is awesome. (why is it entry level? in photography, all you need to know is how to let the light get into your camera... if you have done FILM for the longest time, this baby(550D) is AWESOME!!!

Got my 550D at SLRR for like 1800+. Bought body only with Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.0 DC OS HSM MACRO

Great! Welcome to the club!

Interesting lens... Do let us know how it fares and maybe post some photos?

Sure will do...but will only start shooting on the weekend coz im very busy with work now...

Yeah do share your pictures with us!

hi all .... need some advise .... wil be going to Japan for holiday .... i have the kit I and a 75-300 .... dunno which is the best to bring :embrass::embrass:

both of them

I agree with voxies09, having both of them as the focal length do not overlap

Oh ic, then that really depends on what you're gonna take eventually.

Yeah i agree..

I'm a newbie here.:) Juz graduated from ITE for the course Digital Audio Video Pr. last year and i just bought my new Digital 550D.
I need to kno asap where do i get a good screen protector fo it ?
Coz i'v been around but all seems not good in a sense of comments from brothas and friends, like fo etc. Iphone protector screen and
protector screen fo cameras @ Sim Lim Square. So any suggestion ?? ;)

Get the GSS protector from monstercamera! Awesome! Fits good and nice on 550D

Aw, which model anyway?

I just bought Nissin Di622 flash, the 1st impression was,, this camera is too small for my hand.. going to buy a battery grip.

it feels uncomfortable with flash

when r u going kat-kat?

i'm going on 12th may too! hokkaido and tokyo.

Is this MO still ongoing? Just got my cam too!

It's not an MO, sign up for the online warranty, and they'll offer you this. You can choose not to extend the warranty, till 1month before your original warranty ends.. Can take your time to decide if you wish to purchase the additional warranty. :sticktong

Considering to get one too. Anyway what other benefits does the battery grip has other than have better grip?
