He need 20pcs to bring shipping cost down so to retail at approx $42. As u know, manufacturers always markup new products due to new mole and for early adopters. He is willing to absorb the markup cost for first 20pcs. :)

Anyone interested other than me? I will get 1 for sure, as I am pretty sure this body gonna stay with me for at least 3.6years. (After warranty extention. :D)

Hi guys,

how do you guys copy the photos out from the 550d without a SDHC card reader? I haven't got a reader yet so I'm copying it from USB. But it's frustrating because after every few seconds, the transfer stops and I need to switch off and on the camera to transfer again. I've already set the Auto Off time to 2 minutes but to no avail. Appreciate any advise. :dunno:

Yes I'm already using the EOS utility liao. Does the USB cable matter? I'm not using the original cable given by Canon though.

EDIT: Changed a USB cable, photo transfer so far so good. :)

Bro check with you, what exact does this do?

Wow, warranty extension. Have been considering for sometime if i should get it. Anyway saw Canon site stating that to extend the warranty, you have to get it done latest 1month before the Original Warranty Expires, which doesn't include the free 3 months via online warranty registration right?

Hi all, i am newbie here. Got my 550D kit 1 + 55-250mm lens from last IT show. After reading the thread here, i think i got mine at quite expensive price (1449 + 459). really regret:(
Still learning how to take a good shot now;p. But one thing i don't really understand is, why after the picture transferred to notebook, the sharpness reduced a lot, far from what i see in LCD. Don't know is it because of the device, the lens (kit lens is not a sharp lens as i heard...) or the setting? And i still don't know how to get a really blue sky!! Plan to get a PCL filter, but not sure whether it can help on kit lens.

i think lens plays a part on sharpness, LCD is small. correct me if i am wrong

I got mine from the it show too. I think that's the early adopter price ;)

About the cam LCD vs monitor issue, I think there's a separate thread for that a few weeks back. Yes the LCD cannot be trusted. Just keep in mind that obviously the cam LCD is much smaller than your computer monitor that's why you don't notice the sharpness difference. I suggest that you practice how to take photos sharper :)

Have you taken the free canon seminar? Better attend that one. Will really be helpful for newbie. It was for me.

blueacidic,
I recieved an invoice from canon by post about my warranty extention. My warranty is till 10-SEP-2013. Shoot until xiao... I think my shutter count might reach 5K already.

@as for the snag-it pro protector, it is actually my special request from a advertiser here. I urge him to bring in 550D protector as he only have protector for 450D & 500D, as well as other canon and nikon models. He is only willing to bring in if we can gather 20 people into it.

Please copy & paste this list for easier tracking.

As for 3rd party batteries if anyone is interested, so far locally, we have reddotphoto & sgcamerastore at $28, and the ebay 1 for $25 with free postage.

Oh yeah, last but not least, xc-pictorial (seller of $12 GGS screen protector) hinted me about 3rd party 550D grip. ;)

Ic, wow, warranty covers shutter life-span as well? If yes really worth it!

Anyway soons, for all the effort sharing with us all these deals you have! Still wondering what does this snag-it pro protector actually do? Protect from rain or something? :embrass:

3rd party 550D grip! Omg, that would be great, but still have to wait for it to be launched so can see price difference between original and 3rd party before deciding which to get.

Orient Photo at SLS have 3rd part
550D battery for $25, with 1 year warranty.
