Hi guys,

I'm probably gonna get a Kit II sometime soon. Am thinking of getting a portrait lens to go along.

Was looking into the 50mm f1.8 II & the f1.4 USM. How much more expensive is the f1.4, and is it worth paying extra to get that? I notice a lot of bros here using the f1.8 with the 550D. Can share experience and advice?

Cheers~

The kit II 18-135 is quite a good choice for walk about.
I'm gonna get a prime lens soon. My neighbour let me try his 85mm f/1.8 but I don't really like it. So i guess 50mm would be just right for me. 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 ? hahaha... ;);) you do the math, 50mm f/1.8 at around $100++ .. 50mm f/1.4 ? $600++

Anyway, this is my lens collection:
Canon EF-S 10-22mm
Tamron 28-75mm F2.8
Tokina 50-135mm F2.8
I mainly use tokina for my portrait. Thinking of selling my Tamron away, since rarely use it.

If it's the actual Patriot famous in the US, then it should be a good brand imho

wor... I didn't know no **** man. Haha... Proven to be well now. Be ending my trip Sunday early morning. :)

Patriotis branded lah.

Not as huge as Kingston nor Sandisk, but there is 1 period of time where is DDR memory for PC is best value for money.

sharks... I'm unaware ya. Hmmm, guess I might just be in luck. :)

Thank you thank you.
The problem is, sometimes I travel a lot, and I don't want to change lens, or carry heavy camera/lens around.
Is 17-40 decent for landscape and buildings? I'm not asking for perfect, but a 'can-do' will be good.

How about a 24-105 f/4 L IS USM? I'm also onewho dun wanna bring ard too many lens on travel and I thought this is serving me well. And yes, I'm travelling with it now and no complains. If any, would be a newbie like needs brushing up. :)

Eh. I think it's cos we hv a 1.6 crop factor. Which explains why a 50mm may suits us more. 50 x 1.6 = 80mm. So if u work out the other, it's much further ya.

Why not try both the 1.8 & 1.4 if yr budget allows it? Else settle for the 1.8 ya. I'm happy with it though I hv not try the 1.4. But why bother when I'm happy now? Lol. At least I won't need to spend more on it. Hahah...

Yeap, I understand about the crop factor of 1.6. I tried to put 50mm focal on my kit II 18-135 lens, and it feel goods to me. And with aperture of f/1.8, it's value for money .. I will probably soon get the f/1.8.

By the way, guys can you explain what's the difference with the version I and II ?

Was covered couple of pages back.

Or you could just Google it?

I just found out there is a dead pixel on my one month old 550D :( tried to call Canon today, but not open due to public holisy, so dropped them an email to ask. Does any bro know what would be the outcome? can repair or exchange? anyone experience before?

the dead pixel is so small, hardly noticed it, only today when i prepare to paste the LCD protector then i noticed it...the bad thing is, once u noticed, u always will notice the dead pixel area :(

Where can get the best prcie for Body alone? Thanks.

Guys,

What is the recommended RH% level for dry cabinet? :)

Just bought mine at Alan Photo yesterday.

Mine is the DB-036.

For night party, you need a fast lens.
You can try to use 50mm f/1.8

- Set the camera to Av mode
- Set the aperture to f/1.8
- Set Iso to Auto
- Take the picture...

When using 50mm, the auto iso will give you speed about 1/50 - 1/60sec.
Check your photo results, if the picture still blur (because people moving), change the iso manually to the higher iso (to get a higher shutter speed).

Hope this is help.

night parties? 50 f/1.8 II? i dun think so man. well at least not for me and some ppl i know. that lens focuses too slowly and may miss. and in lowlight...it hunts more than the f/1.4 by A LOT. its seriously unreliable when its dark. this is one lens i will never bring to a wedding. if you got the budget...go for 50 f/1.4 at least. 50 f/1.8 is just for play play. i never use that as much as when i used the 50 f/1.4. its just to incompetent, but for the price....no complains. i just dun use it only. haha!

use my lens kit 18 - 135MM
set to manual 18MM, f22, AWB, 1/60, at daylight, i found my picture overexpose, is it normal? do we have to edit the brightness using software?

Edit: I think I should get the polarizing filter for this..so the right question is, any brand for good polarizing filter 67mm?
