What's the difference between Canon 50mm f1.8 mark II and Canon EF - 50mm f1.8? Or is it the same?

Contemplating on getting a macro lens, seems like loads of good review on this lens. Can anyone advice?

wads gss?

ha ha, should be GGS

Nice shots soon...

Hi all, newbie in this field. Much to look forward to all your guidance. I just bought my 550D from another CSer here. He prefers the hassle free shooting after getting it for under a month. Paid $1080 for the body. Got no lens for a couple of days then bought the 50mm f1.8 II lens cos the digicabi out of stock. Thought the dry cabi is impt cos my place is kinda moist. Then have asked a friend to get me a 24-105mm from hongkong cos the price is so much cheaper there. other then that, I'm clueless with all thats going on. with regards to cam settings, video taking, lightroom, photoshop and all. Pls guide me along the way. Thank you!!

!st of all, start reading the manual, though boring, but useful.
then play around
then read more on forum.
it will come slowly :)

Nope, I am waiting for GGS Glass protector.

Someone posted available in OP. I have Not yet call to check

thinking to replace my 18-55mm, saw the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 lens

Any 550D users using Sigma 17-70mm?

why dun consider tamron 17-50? i think the tammy is sharper.

I prefer to get the OS version if I can... wanna replace my Tamron 28-75 for that.

For those interested to know:

The brain of 550D. Digic IV with 2 BGA rams, but I suspect is DDR2, from the shape of the chip.

And canon do states:
The EOS Kiss X4 borrows the high sensitivity, low noise, and extended dynamic range technologies from our high-end models, such as the EOS 7D, for a full-time ISO range (100 to 6400) twice that of the Kiss X3. In extended ISO mode, the range is extended to ISO 12,800.

OS version has smaller aperture range than the old model.
it also has HSM but of course pricer.

i'm looking for cheapo lens. :bsmilie:

prob a frequent Q,
do want video capability, is it worth to up from 450 to 550?
