As for where should get DSLR, a thread has listed a few reputable shops, include, but not limited to Cathay photo, MS color, TK foto, Orient photo, PArisilk, SLR Revo, etc, etc.

If you have the money, EFS18-200 is a good choice, a few CSer quite like this lens. IS, USM.

check everything included in box. Check if there is no physical, visible scratch. try to snap one photo if possible. sometimes battery not charge so not possible. But a few shops allow you to try at home and 7 days 1 to 1 exchange.

Check if it Sg warranty, the warranty card chop with shops stamp, and receipt.
18-200mm no USM btw, only IS.
28-200mm have USM, but no IS.

yeah man, i haf a problem doing that. but then again, im on CS3...i need CS4 to run it. sighs. so too bad for CS3 users...gotta get CS4 then download that update.

Canon has already given you free software to read RAW. All in that CD.

Can do minor tweaks as well.

;)

Hi,

How long can the 550D record Full HD video with 30fps? From the specs it shows 4Gb per file. Which is how many min?
How long can the batt last for taking full HD movie?

Thanks..

exactly. since i started shooting RAW last week, my current workflow has been-
  1. import RAW pictures via Canon DPP (adjust white balance, NR, levels, etc.)
  2. export them via lossless TIF 14-bit
  3. process TIF images in Adobe LR2 (add filters, resize, crop, etc.)

am i overdoing it? i feel there's so much effort in post processing. before for JPEG, picasa can manage hehe

Didn't really bother about raw as I am lazy.
Some more shots. Taken with Canon 10-22mm
Really love the auto ISO function.

Nice shots soon...

Hi all, newbie in this field. Much to look forward to all your guidance. I just bought my 550D from another CSer here. He prefers the hassle free shooting after getting it for under a month. Paid $1080 for the body. Got no lens for a couple of days then bought the 50mm f1.8 II lens cos the digicabi out of stock. Thought the dry cabi is impt cos my place is kinda moist. Then have asked a friend to get me a 24-105mm from hongkong cos the price is so much cheaper there. other then that, I'm clueless with all thats going on. with regards to cam settings, video taking, lightroom, photoshop and all. Pls guide me along the way. Thank you!!

lolx, these batteries never have true capacities. Voltage might be different also.
Scarlee 580mAh then they put 5800mAh. lolx

Scarlee Canon also think there are idiots out there who're willing to pay for their over-priced batt. Give you low rating but still will buy bcos I Canon mah! Wahahaha! :bsmilie:

If you need those steps to process the picture to your standards, then that is not overdoing it IMO.

4gb in full HD is approx. 12 mins.

30fps, 25fps, 24fps and 60fps 720p have the same bitrate. :(
I hope that have a 720p 30fps version. At night scenes, 60fps really hurts as minimum shutterspeed was 1/61.
