hehe...my brother laggi best...wanna go sony. despite how awful their lenses are...he saw he likes the design of the a900. -_-" ya its solid, but everything else suck about them.

I like the idea of stablized sensor though.

Try calling MS, AP, J3:16 and SLR Rev see how much they quote u lor...

I also getting the 550d 18-55mm.

Anyone still interested in Screen Protector? My friend has lobang for it, approx S$5 for a true fit 550D Screen Protector. But need to wait for manufacturer to get the new mould and produce.

has anyone used 3rd party battery with the Canon LP-E8 battery inside battery grip? wonder would there be any issues? since both has different capacity.

function check on camera, confirming 7 day 1:1 exchange etc, don't buy extra un-needed stuff unless u know what u r buying.

agree. a lot of folks say that too. but as for me, it's a good enough walkabout lens so much so it's less compelling for me to buy another one (L perhaps?) anytime soon :dent:

Regarding the screen protector i did a customized screen protector at John 3:16 at $25..
Its fits nicely and in good quality..

I got the IRROU LP-E8 Battery for 550D at SGD25 from OP SLS. And the GGS glass screen protector for 550D at SGD20 (It fits perfectly).
Anyway the IRROU LP-E8 Battery is super over-rated at 5800mAh but it come with 1 yrs warranty by OP.

Hope this info are useful and benefit our 550D Bros here.

Anyway the IRROU LP-E8 Battery is super over-rated at 5800mAh but it come with 1 yrs warranty by OP.

lolx, these batteries never have true capacities. Voltage might be different also.
Scarlee 580mAh then they put 5800mAh. lolx

Hi all,
I am newbie who is getting my first DSLR after my long-frozen canon SLR 300.

I plan to get the Canon 550D kit 2. However, Alan Photo had no stock when I queried yesterday. They quoted me S$1600 if available. The salesperson recommend that I get Canon 550D body (S$1150) with a travel lens Sigma 18-200 OS (S$690), totaling S$1840.

I have never used Sigma lens. Yes, agreed that I like one lens (avoid changing lens) mainly for travel photography. I prefer taking landscapes, people in action/country, building etc. Not sure if Sigma colour tone is good or not. Anyone can offer some advice?

Actually I still have 1 kit lens from my Canon 300 SLR and an additional EF75-300mm F/4.0-5.6 without IS. Not sure if I switch to DSLR now, is IS so important?

Appreciate some advice from those with more experience. Thanks pp. If can, pls give me advice on where should I get the DSLR from?

As for where should get DSLR, a thread has listed a few reputable shops, include, but not limited to Cathay photo, MS color, TK foto, Orient photo, PArisilk, SLR Revo, etc, etc.

If you have the money, EFS18-200 is a good choice, a few CSer quite like this lens. IS, USM.

check everything included in box. Check if there is no physical, visible scratch. try to snap one photo if possible. sometimes battery not charge so not possible. But a few shops allow you to try at home and 7 days 1 to 1 exchange.

Check if it Sg warranty, the warranty card chop with shops stamp, and receipt.
