Hi guys. I'm at the audio house sale at suntec looking at the 550D.

It's $1799 for Kit 2. These are they the things they are giving:
2 8gb class 4 sd card
screen protector
3rd party battery
3rd party flash
dry box
tripod
card reader
cleaning kit
eos bag
uv filter

sounds good people? Not sure what are the prices for the dry box and all. So seeking opinion. :)

RRP with free flash, drybox, card reader, 3rd party batt & UV filter.

What is the flash? I highly suspect it is a manual flash, by sunblitz.

Guys I need some advice.

I plan to get a 550D + 50mmf/2.8 soon.

Should I get the 550D with

- Kit 1 (18-55mm) $1151 >Should I buy a 18-55mm when Im getting 50mm f/2.8 soon?
- Kit 2 (18-135mm) $1429 or
- Just get the 550D body $ 992 >Since can get a cheaper 2nd hand zoom lense ??

????

Please advice.
Thanks
I bought 550D body only as I am using my Tamron lens and Tokina Lens from my 350D. :D

I don't think so. The closest I can find is the 3.3" screen protector on ebay.

Will notify you people if I found any good lobang to share with all fellow 550D users. :)

AP has it. 7$. :)

May i know where in SG you can get 550D Kit 2 with S1429 / 550D body with $992?

I have no idea. I tried finding out what flash but they can't tell me. Just say it's third party flash. Even when I asked for configurations. Hmm..

So it's still better to head to SLS or funan eh?

$1799 for Kit 2 is the SRP shown on Canon's website. Current Canon promo comes with Crumpler bag (with Canon logo on bag & EOS on shoulder pad) plus a 8GB class 4 card. You might not want all the other freebies & get it cheaper than $1799. I paid $1650 a month ago, without freebies apart from Canon promo gifts; I thought I've paid too much after reading the threads in this forum. As for the Flash, there are advantages in buying a compatible Canon EX series flash separately later when you need one. I've been advised by many not to start buying extras until I use it for a while & evaluate what I need to add on systematically. Rgds

(I'm new here; this is my 1st post & the 550D is my 1st dSLR :))

I will stay away from audio house. You are actually buying the "free gifts" from them and eventually realised the gifts are useless.

The flash...about $30
The 8 GB card about $35 (low speed)
Filter - $6 (no multi coating, produce bad flare)
Cleaning Kit $5 (some tissue and solution or a cheapo blower)
Card reader $10
3rd party batt $28 (Can't tell the charge level on camera)
Their tripod....those plastic $30 tripod
Small Dry Cab....less then $80

The freebies worth it? You might use it once or twice to realise that they are actually useless. And the earn super high margin through those freebies that you buy!

If you feel like becoming a carrot head then please buy from them.

Current Canon promo is normal Canon EOS bag, not the Crumpler.

But ** option to change to EOS Tote Bag

Oh? I didn't know. Bought mine in mid-March & got a Crumpler (Model is the five million dollar home, black with green linings inside). Nice bag; I was told this bag is quite costly. Rgds

Pretty costly...but not given as a standard free now...

Hi people,

I'm new here as well..

Been thinking about getting the 550D as my first DSLR, but i'm not sure if i should go for Kit II with the 18-135mm, or should i go for just the body, and get the 18-200mm separately?

What's the main difference between the two lenses (apart from the greater zoom), and would i newbie really need the extra zoom range? Would the 18-135mm suffice in terms of versatility?

Thanks a lot in advance. :]
