haha bought mine also today at AP. Supposed to be $215 but i said the other store is selling it at $205. So he gave me it for $205, then I also bought canon LP E8 for $80. another expensive day for me; but i think i got the original battery cheap
$80 is slightly cheap, other shops selling $85 region.

it's not that i'm not taking it seriously but it also depends on what i have in the pocket:dunno:
i'm just trying to get the suitable equipment under 2k & i love the f1.4 result.

any recommended lens & the price?
How do u know the results of F1.4 when u haven't know how to use the lens correctly??
I gave up F1.4 and switch to zoom F2.8 as I find zoom F2.8 suits my shooting better.

Would anyone go for 3rd party battery grip and batteries like Phottix?
should be out in 2-4 weeks time.

I read many posts before this, some had the divipower batteries and work well for them.

I likely will get a original battery grip, haven't feel the 3rd party one before.

nice one brother. ya photography is friggin ex...so i decided that until my skills are better (or i suddenly turned rich) then i'd upgrade. if not...tahan lor. The grip is good right? pretty solid. compared to my bg-e2n, its way better. but i wish canon cameras were as smart as nikon's. we dun know exactly how much power we are left. for nikon, when they use bg, they will know exactly which batt left how much power exactly in percentage.

damn, why must the original stuff be sold so expensively??? batteries dun cost much to produce. sighs. now im juz using a batt grip with one batt...dun see the need for another for now.

Any idea when the AC adaptor will be out? Would help a lot for indoor shots.

to be fair with 3rd party batteries, actually the guy at AP tried to persuade me to buy the 3rd party battery. he said it's good enough. i'm just so stubborn to buy the original canon...

yeah it's pretty solid to hold. my big hands feel more comfortable holding the camera now.. shooting portaits are now easier.
(if i had a 50d or 7d, which have big bodies, i would've had one less reason to buy the bg.)

it's the brand name we're paying for, as always.. but yeah i also feel two batts are an overkill. tho that one day when my batt drained in malaysia taught me a lesson..

yes i understand, buy original give you a peace of mind too

one reason why i got the 550d is cuz the bg looks so solid n fitting. lol...

Hi guys.

I am actually using a Olympus E-P1 right now. So i am actually thinking of going for a real DSLR now. I realise that sensor size really matter. And i had fun playing with my friend's 500D. So I am actually looking through this thread. And i found this 550D with the REBEL T2i Label. Does all 550D come with that label? I just thought that label is really cool, definitely a plus.

And do you guys suggest i get the camera in the next IT fair or, should i just get from shops? I am thinking of getting the body and use tamron's f2.8 17-55mm. How much do you think i need to buy this combi?

One last one. How would 550D compare to Nikon D90?

Many thanks! :embrass:

you can read the review of D90 vs 550D comparison
i personally prefer D90 features, higher fps, body size.
but i went with Canon for its value, 1080p recording, ISO performance of entry DSLR.

after trying out few times between D90 & 550D, I prefer the natural colors (neutral to me) from Canon.

i quoted from someone "when you need a camera, just get it."
but for me, i'm learning and i know it can achieve good imaging to keep special moments.

Hi,

Went to try out the 550D today at MS.. looks good..

btw 550d shoot 1920 x 1080 video at 30fps rite? How come under setting i only see 25fps. Did i miss out something?

There are reasons for 3rd party batteries to be around. lolx

where can i get a screen protector for the 550D's LCD?

I don't think so. The closest I can find is the 3.3" screen protector on ebay.

Will notify you people if I found any good lobang to share with all fellow 550D users. :)
