okay... didn't realize there is such rule...


Anyway, I am looking for spare battery, saw this one on Ebay is going pretty fast, at $14 each!

Wish to ask if there is any difference between Canon and this brand battery.
Any users of this battery? Any comments? Is china battery safe??

Original battery cost around $85 when i ask the shop!! So expensive!!

It depend on you. You can get Phottix Battery "cheaply" in ebay.

I had been using it with my Phottix Grip. So far so good.

They have to protect themselves from parallel imports mah~!!

I don't trust 3rd party lens, needs calibration. Tokina is an exception though. Have 2 lens, both is great with no f/b focus.

What I understand is must bring along camera. S$80 but take a while (maybe few hours).

I actually found a place selling imported copy about S$535. Was thinking of getting initially but calibration S$80 and 1 yr warranty (instead of 2.5yr).

Then did some calculation. $535 + $80 (calibration) = $615, then SLRR selling ard S$715. So we are basically paying S$100 for the 1.5yrs extra warranty. Seems reasonable.

I still considering which tripod to buy. Think I will be too lazy to bring out (even if I drive).

BTW just to share a tips, was reading one of the photography book and one of the tips is to use "bean bag" to put on a stable area and adjust the camera position. Seem good idea. Cheap and easy to carry around. Maybe we can bring those "baby float" to replace. Can easily inflat and deflat.

Take your time, since we are not doing paid photography.

eh u heard the green tea one kill sperms? how abt the prolonged use of handphone will kill sperms? or eating yellow noodles causes cancer? lol if u get my point.. all these are juz some kopitiam trash talk to make newbies scared and respectful of the old breed

Haha, that y u need an addtional layer (the separate the heat) between ur "grand children" and the lappy.

I had went to Daiso Vivo and IMM. Did not seems to see any.

OR

And should I get the EF 50mm f1.8 II lens? My budget will be around $1.8k, so what else can I should I get? So please enlighten me!

What type of photography do u prefer? To be honest i think most ppl will replace their kit lens after a short while. If u get kit 2 its cos u dun like to keep changing lens eg travel. Kit 1 with telezoom will not substitute a 18-200 lens cos switching lens is quite troublesome. But if u intend to do serious shooting at ur own time then that is fine. Most ppl setup same as mine: everyday lens (24-105, 18-135,17-55) , prime lens (50 f1.8/1.4) , telezoom (55-250,70-200) and there are those who will go for UWA 10-22mm. Depends on what u need

Got meself a 550D with 18-55mm lens... having plenty of fun with it, but the short reach of the lens is tempting me to splurge more of my paycheck on a lens which can reach further.

Anyone using the Tamron 18-270mm on 550D body? How does it feel?

If you don't need wireless, just get the off camera shoe cord. Cheong or original seems to work fine but my experience with Canon stuffs is better to use their original else you may have a problem with compatibility with your future purchases.

If you want wireless, the cheapest way of course would be to get 2 flashes. Use 1 to master the other to slave and let them have point of contact so that their IF can wk. If you shoot portraitures and need distance then get the pocket wizard. They are great investment that can be used even for future as you upgrade and improves in your photography.

A 55-250 costs about $400 which exceeds your budget so don't get 1st.Lets say you still have $80 left still can get a 2nd hand 50mm f1.8

Here's how it works. What do you need to shoot? You buy the basics kit 1 (less reach), or kit 2 (more reach)...

1) you want to shoot nice landscape :
dang, you need tripod.

2) you want to shoot some night scenes:
dang, you need tripod.

3) you want to shoot some portraits, especially at night:
ugh, need flash!

4) you wanna shoot some chio models at IT fair, WCG:
dang, no flash cannot ah!

1.8K can do you plenty. But if you cannot increase your budget, at least have the mind that you will need to spend a little more for a good tripod and ok flash in the future.

a tripod can give you lots of options especially in landscape photography...even with a kit 1 18-55 your pictures can look pro! otherwise you can go DIY tripods, but sooner or later you will need them :devil:

Flash..well. Built-in flashes can do the trick but i really really hate the direct-flash look! not to mention the range is puny

Depends on which tripod you get.Fotopro/Fancier and Benro are within your budget
