hi guys i have a little problem with my new phottix cleon II remote,
when i attached everything, i tried to use by pressing the shutter release on the transmitter and receiver both dun work.
1) i tried to change the frequency and sync, though they are in synce already (cos when pressed on the transmitter, the receiver light got blink)
2) then i try all ways its still dun work.
3) only when i change it to the live view mode then the remote work.
when i change back to the viewfinder mode, it dun work again.

could someone please advice me.
millions thanks in advance.

I had taken up canon PPP for a canon 550D kit 2.
Hopefully, it will arrive in time for my next month end holiday in HK.

Will need lots of advise from you guys.
Like what other items does you guys purchase after getting the camera.

u want original or 3rd party? original grip is $200, latter is $90 frm hong kong. batt original $80, latter $15 also frm hong kong lol canon sg dun sell original grip need to import (frm hong kong too)

SDHC class 6 recommended

lens hood on such a small lens looks quite funny so dun bother. buy filter

actually i found a small lens needs hood rather then filter.. i dont use filter on my 50mm but i use lens hood to protect my lens.. some ppl said cheapo filter will affect your IQ.. dont know true or not, hence i dont use filter

Cheapo lens definitely affects IQ. and flaring issues etc etc. That's why after the first week of using a crappy tokina I took it back to MS to change.

It's that bad.

Anyway do stay in tuned for our first meeting's photos! Since Odessey they all not back yet I started the thread first:

If I were to be in your shoes I will definitly go for the 17-55mm Is Usm (I'm saving hard to realise it!).
Btw just my 2cents worth, I rather get the 3rd party grip via eBay as the price savings is more than half compared to getting a canon grip and battery. Anyway reviews had been made that the difference between the 2 are not very significant.
(Money saved you can get filters) :)

Just keep ur equipment away from wet areas like bathroom.

i need your strongly substantiated claims of which lens is better for 550D! 17-85mm or juz the kit lens? i got conflicting results frm review websites and even conflicting frm the same site!

I got no substantiation to show you, but I can tell you of my experience with this lens.

I found the 17-85mm lens to be very unsharp at the edges when in the wide position. After a few shoots of large groups scenes I could not stand the results any longer, because the faces at the edges looked all melted and very soft. So I took the lens and my camera to a shop (Alan Photo SLS) where I could compare it with a Sigma 17-70mm. I found the Sigma to be much much sharper and with less distortion, so I bought it after 20 minutes of testing. I am still happily using the Sigma 2 years later and the results with large groups are fine for edge sharpness. I just need to do a bit of keystone correction in photoshop and it looks good.

The kit lens is good for the price, but not so useful in low light conditions.

Can anyone advice on which Lens to get, canon 17-55mm or tamron 17-50mm?
I've seen my friend's tamron 17-50 and it worked superb for him on a nikon s90

what would be your choice and why?
