A really cheap and nasty filter could distort the image if the glass is not true optical quality.
A cheapo filter like the kind they might give away when you buy a lens should be OK optically, but it will probably be uncoated. This is likely to cause reflections from lights and any bright spots in the frame. It will also be more liable to show flare when the light comes from certain angles.
A good quality filter will be multi-coated to minimise reflections.
Does it matter? Well, it's your pictures, up to you to decide. I nearly got caught out doing an evening shoot at Universal Studios Singapore, with loads of obvious reflections of the lights showing up because of the freebie filter on my new lens. Luckily I noticed in time to remove the filter and reshoot without the reflections.
Agreed
Bro,
I saw your Thai fashion photos in flickr, very well taken! I like the sharpness and color saturation. Mind sharing the lens you used and if any post-processing was done?![]()
Thanks for your comments! 70-200 f2.8. Post processing like WB adjustments was done.
Bros, what filter can I use to protect my 50mm f1.8? Cheap one that will not affect(or the least effect) on the image quality? how much?
Thanks bros
