Are you refering to this?
http://www.shuttercentral.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=20

I'm considering between that and http://www.linkdelight.com/vmchk/Ph...2i-BG-E8-2xLP-E8-Remote-Cord/flypage.tpl.html

Why is one labelled as BG-E5 and one BG-E8, are they the same? and what does "Li-ion Battery replaces LP-E8 x2" mean?

Hi,

Think i m a bit late in replying...

The BG-E5 sold at http://www.shuttercentral.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=20 cannot be use with Canon EOS 550D

Canon EOS 550D use the battery grip model BG-E8. The battery model for Canon EOS 550D is LP-E8 and LP-E8 x2 mean it also comes with 2 battery.

In fact I had order one from ebay (still waiting it to ship) at http://shop.ebay.com.sg/i.html?_nkw...0D+Rebel+T2i+BG-E8+with+2LP-E8&LH_AvailTo=180

Find the cheapest... There are some without the 2 battery selling at ebay http://shop.ebay.com.sg/i.html?_nkw...-E8&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313 but it is only about S$20 different. So S$20 for 2 Phottix Battery is worth it.

Previously when I go oversea, take a lot of photos, about more than 500 a day and end up low bat. No enough to take video of firework at night. So it is definitely a good investment.

NOOOO this is not the one! they trying to scam... 550D batt and 450D/500D/1000D batt not the same.. batt grip for the 3 cant fit into 550D... phottix offers a 550D battery grip too. redddot selling for $130 cheaper than Canon $200 but i dunno abt the difference in build quality (if any) :\ anyone use the phottix one before?

What scam? U had bad experience?

Don't scare me, I just ordered one from ebay (still waiting it to ship) at http://shop.ebay.com.sg/i.html?_nkw...0D+Rebel+T2i+BG-E8+with+2LP-E8&LH_AvailTo=180

Hi Guys

Just purchased my 550D about a month ago and still trying to figure out its functions.

Hope to pick up tips here!!!

Just wanted to check on a few things:

1. Am interested in taking potraits and nature shots. Any reccomendations for the sort of lenses i should buy?

2. Intend to invest in a good flash as well? Any reccomendations.

3. What are some of the must-buys for the camera?

Thanks for any help for this newbie...

Heh, same same here....

Guys, I just got the Original Battery Grip.

First of all, I'll feel very shiok, as I have a better grip and with that, I can take portraits better.

But ! here's a problem ! Which is that I have to upgrade my bag this time round in order to fit all my equipments, which is a ext flash and a 50 1.8, lens hood.. etc.

I have the Canon EOS Sling Bag, its spacious but it doesn't come with a Rain Cover which is handy to me and it's not comfortable.

So, I got a Lowepro Nova 2 AW, w/o the battery grip, it fits in nicely, but after fitting the battery grip, my bag is too small for everything. SAD thing.

I intend to get a Loweoro Nikon Rezo 190AW, partly its cheap and comfortable - comparing Price V.S Design V.S Functionality.

Wanna check with you guys what's your take and what bag are you carrying in with this body+grip ?

Odyssey, how much did you get it?
compgen yes, it's same, but i dont get the free battery, i bought it from Reddotphoto

i am using fastpack 250, it fits my 550d+grip+18-135mm lens nicely. + my flash and still has 3 empty spaces :D

Great bag. Have space for my laptop & textbook for school too. :)

Managed to put my 550D & 350D+Grip with 2 sets of flash inside the bag, making it as heavy as my field pack.

Congrats on getting the Original batt-grip. One of my best buys too. Facing the same prob as you are now with the bag.

One question though, y the explicit need for a rain cover? Besides lowepro, have you seen other brands?

Will be looking forward to your findings.

The street price of a Nissin Di622 is around the $200ish.. I got mine at $180 cos I bought it together with my 550D.

For me, I can't live w/o a Battery Grip.. that's why I'm getting the Original Canon today later..

I would still insist a Dry Cabinet..where you dump all yr cam equipment in.. so u don't need to worry about whether you misplace any of your accessories..

oh? i know brand new nissin $210 from reddot.. looking for 2nd hand ones at ard $150?

I got the Canon BG-E8 at $190 and an Extra LP-E8 at $80. Nice customer service from the 3 friendly XMM.

In my opinion, I'd personally feel that SG's weather is instable, walking around halfway, suddenly rain.. Having an additional protection is good too.

So far, I've checked on Lowepro, Crumpler and Winer Bags.
Lowepro seems good, I'm looking at the Lowepro Nova 200 AW.
Crumpler ? The 5MDH or 6MDH, but it's a little overpriced. :thumbsd:
Winer Bags? Yes I like the 1961, but Steve don't have the stock.

Right now ? I'll be getting a Nikon Lowepro Rezo 190AW. Some may say I'm a Canon user but using a Nikon bag. But who cares right? As long as its a bag, suits my needs and comfort level and cheap, why not ?

I have a Nikon blower to blow my Canon. I mean, my Canon camera. As long as it blows, it's fine alright.

Thanks for sharing your findings. I was looking at lowepro as well and since I was at it, I also looked at crumpler and kata. Although it's pricey, I was swaying towards the crumpler coz it's a sling bag. Most of the bags that fits my criteria are backpacks which I dun really fancy. I feel sling bags are easier and faster if I want to grab the shot of the moment.

There was a kata model I saw in challenger funan (think it's relatively new?) that is a backpack but it can hold quite a bit of stuff including a netbook. Quick to lash out the cam too with it's whatever design you call it. Forgot the model though...

Will check out your recommendation on the Nikon Lowepro Rezo. Thanks!

fastpack 250 is very fast and easy for you to grab your camera.. google it.. backpack is good to carry a heavy equipment because you wont feel as heavy as sling bag..
