whats tat for?.. hee.. i can't read arabica...
would love to add a half case for my Df though... for extra grip...

That is actually just a L plate or L bracket, doesn't give any additional grip to Df. Allows you to mount yr camera in horizontal/vertical position via arca swiss style adaptor(Quick release).

How good the grip is will determine what lens i gonna get next.. hee

I will be mainly using the 50mm prime. So any help should be good enough for me.

I thought you selling your DF?

Not many ppl responded... guess must blame Kai haha... will be keeping ba... add on a sb300 or sb400.... its IQ is tok gong le... only complain is grip and lack of on board flash... even with a 85 1.8g i feel the grip is not enough... really shallow... wanted to get a 24120 or 28300 for travel... nw must think twice.. hopefully the half case can provide better support... wonder any one uses a thumbs up hor...

Unlikely to have a thumbs up right? Cause the hotshoe is so high up on the ovf hump..

Still can put thumb up on the flash hot shoe but it would be looked funny as hanging in the air.

A lot of users including experienced reviewers who should know better like Kai and Ming Thien, have complain about the lack of adequate grip on the Df compared to their other DSLRs. It somehow did not occur to them that the ergonomics of the Df is not like other DSLRs and therefore should not be expected to be held in the hand like their other DSLRs.

Some reviewers did tried to highlight this in their reviews and even suggested better ways to hold the Df so as not to cripple their hands in 30 minutes like what the Df did to Ming Thien's hand. :what:

Example this review :
http://deadsailorproductions.blogspot.sg/2014/01/nikon-df-real-world-review.html
His suggestion on how to hold the Df:
"When I picked up the Df I was a little taken aback because things didn't line up right. The shutter-release button was too high and the strange new front command dial didn't feel natural and it was a bit hard to adjust. After spending about 1/2 hour with the camera I had it figured out. I had to adjust the way I hold and operate the camera. I used to hold the camera with three fingers on the grip and used my forefinger for the front command dial and shutter release button. I adjusted my grip to use with the Df so that my forefinger is on the shutter-release at all times and my middle finger rests on the front command dial. This brings your hand grip up higher and makes it more comfortable and it places the strap lug between the fingers keeping it out of the way. I also find it’s much quicker to adjust settings on the fly this way."

Bottom: new comfy grip

And the thing about the lack of an onboard flash and backlit shooting.... I normally also don't like to shoot my subject backlit as they would either turn out under-exposed if the background is OK or the background would be over-exposed if the subject is properly exposed. Even if an onboard flash is used, the image would still look unnatural because the light from the flash is too direct and cannot be bounced.

However in the hands of a pro, backlit images can come out stunning, eg. the beautiful natural light and backlit wedding images taken by a pro with a Df in his review "Shooting With the Nikon Df"
http://www.roccoancora.com/2013/12/shooting-nikon-df/

And here's another review by someone who actually tried to use the Df and gave an impartial write-up of his experience with the camera and not like some others who had actually already decided beforehand that they did not like the Df and then skewed their reviews in that direction.

I had a hands-on for that AFS 58mm, brought home some samples too.
Not as beautiful as those reviews said.
But since this is a df thread I shall not go into details here.

Mounted on the df, looks weird too.
