yup agreed.. i so far have not found any use for 60 fps for any videos i have shot.. be it with the 5D or any video camera... what do you need the 60fps for rainwhisper??

Yes. 60 FPS is for slow motion effects. When you record at 60 FPS and set the playback to 24/30FPS. It creates a slow motion effect. Recording at 30FPS at slowing it down to 10FPS, makes the video very choopy.

hahaha... yes yes.. i know that... If i want to shoot slow-mo i still prefer to use a videocamera.. like the ex3 which can undercrank and overcrank... I think the 60fps is not a major selling point for me.. i would just consider it a bonus feature... having a faster burst rate is more impt...

just got my 5Dmk2 from Indo in Dusit, mangga dua brand new for $2644 + sandisk 16gig class 10 $159.. i asked john 3:16 last week it going for $3150 and ddelectronics for $3088 thats alot of money to waste excited to go to shoot fella

I intend to downgrade my 5dm2+24-105 to 7d+15-85 because of underuse due to weight and cost. I also prefer a super responsive cam to shot my kids running around.
With flash and iso1600, I suppose both setup will have similar iq right ?

Is this a bad bad idea ???

Try switching to fixed lenses with big apertures. Even the 50f1.4 or if budget permits, 35L. I really like the 28f1.8 for this purpose, because of the super fast focusing.

Can I ask on a scale of 10, how would you rate the 28mm in terms of IQ and sharpness?

This is highly subjective. If 10 is pin sharp and 6 is just usable.
I would reckon that at wide open, it is a 6, and stopped down a little it gets much sharper like 7. It is sharpest at f5.6-8, where I would rate it an 8.5. Because of the wide DOF, you will get quite a lot of keepers, and it is very easy to use and distortion is low.

7D+15-85 isn't much lighter than 5D2+24-105. Of course, 7D's is more responsive.

What he wants is lens for landscape, 70-200 not to suitable. Personally, I have the 70-200 F2.8L IS MK2 and 16-35 F2.8 Mk2 and I find that 16-35 is more suitable for landscape.

16-35 is without a doubt the choice for landscape... No brainers. Unless the landscape that he wants is the The Great Canyon or some mountainous region.

Coupled with the 35mm, 70mm is also a decent enuf range to take most landscapes...
I have 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200... I ended using the last 2 lens for most of my travel...thus my recommendation...
