COngrats on getting yourself a great camera!

Regarding the EG-S screen, I am using one now but it is mainly to help me focus when I am using manual lenses like my Zeiss 35/1.4 and 50MP. I was using the stock screen all along with my other lenses inclusive of the 35L and no problem with that. So buy the EG-S if you are interested in manual big aperture lenses. Else the stock screen works fine. :)

Pls also note that eg-s is good for only lens with f2.8 or bigger. Lens with smaller aperture (e.g f5.6) will cause the viewfinder to b very dim/dark

thanks for the explanation guys. will use the original one for the time being to see if there's any limitation for my scope of work. (:

Just got myself a 5D2. loving every bit of it. why wait for mk3 when the current is bang for buck?

a question for the experienced users, does the focusing screen EG-S or whatever helps in normal event, wedding photography?

You can consider getting the EG-D if you have tendency to slant your shots. I've been using it for 2 years already and the grid lines really help :)

anything smaller then f2.8, the view finder will be darker.

Anyone using EF 24 f2.8 on 5DMKII for landscape? How you find its performents?

Oh to warn all 5DMKII users. Recently i brought my 5DMKII with EF 17-40 F4L to Vietnam for trekking at Sapa. Its very cold up there about 5-10c and worst still it rains heavily during my trekking days. So my 5DMKII got very wet till it give up on me... Totally cannot work, LCD blank, all buttons no respond, AF screw up. It only recover 2 days later on a sunny day.

So please do not think 5DMKII is "weather seal" therefore rain is not a problem. Send in to CSC for check up yesterday. Hope its fine...

Thanks for the warning to all. I hope that you're camera is fine. Did you get any good shots of Vietnam before the camera lost consciousness?

Thanks for the reminder. Fortunately I've never used it in anything more than a drizzle.

Come on..it is not water proof. Don't ever try it under the rain.

it's not that bad. light rain is still fine. i went thru heavier rain but nothing happens. maybe i am just lucky.

Of course it gave up bro. It's weathered sealed not waterproof. You still should use a camera raincoat.

Bro..you r brave. I never trust the weather seal or weather proof either in lens or camera.water can simply seep into fine gap or small hole.
