Where to get cheaper mk ll ?

i was in BKK last week. visited one of the camera shop in Seacon Sq, the 5DMKII is selling around $2800+SGD (converted from thai baht) but i am not sure if its a thailand local set or grey set but makes no different as long as u buy outside singapore, its consider grey set since no warranty.

some more if this shop is a registered shop with the local VAT... u can claim back VAT (for tourist) at the airport, then more savings for you.

i only check the price in that shop in Seacon sq.... nvr check other shops in BKK though.

Anyone replaced to the Eg-D focusing screen ? The one with the grid lines.
Thinking about that but not sure if it helps in composing shots.

I am using e grid. It's ok, at least u uv some guideline over 2/3 rule n composition.

It's pretty helpful when proper level of the shot is crucial, same applies for rules of third.

what i did was... mount on tripod, use the live view to do the levelling then switch back haha... i think 7D got this builtin grid thingy right?

Depends on the situation, its less likely that people will always bring along tripod. To make it easier, I changed most of my DSLRs' focus screens to grid type. Works well for me and provided me with great leveling reference through the viewfinder. 7D is able to have the grid superimposed on the viewfinder once activated.

I think the grid helps when you have time to compose your shots. If you are capturing street or weddings, I doubt you will really notice the grid?

Do you find the EG-S useful or any significant difference you noticed?

yes, definitely useful, the view finder is very bright when u use fast less (min f2.8) and manual focusing is alot easier.

That the main benefit I found on the 7D

u can go to Vivo or Keppel Tower to get.

u cannot clean focusing screen... its too delicate to clean. usually have to replace if u failed to blow off the dust.

Depends how it is handled. Try to use some cleaning solution with cotton swabs to prevent scratching it.

sighs, i done some cleaning myself before (without using cleaning solution with cotton swabs), end up scratching my previous screen and the focusing mirror... end up replace both -_-"

Sounds like rough handling involved. Mine still works great. ;)
