Haha.. Of cos I knew.. Just that 85mm mainly used for potrait, how about 50mm? Usually u guys used them for what purpose? Thanks for sharing

50 mm f/1.8 is the cheapest of Canon lens, even the f/1.4 is still cheaper than the 85mm. Also it being small and light make it easy to carry along. A fast prime lens for low lights conditions.

With FF, it is a "standard" lens.

The 85 mm f/1.8 is known as the Portraits lens, make with a 'soft' focus effects.

Hope this help!

it depends on your shooting style.

u can also use 85mm for landscape (upclose shoots) or street shoots.

most uses 50mm for general use (portraits -> landscape -> macro with the use of filters or extension tubes to add macro capabilities) etc

personally i dun really like to use 50mm, cos i find it not here or there. i prefer 35mm over 50mm. and i use my 35mm for general use (as above minus macro).

Which 35mm have you been using? the L or f2 version.

I am sitting right opposite this couple.

this street shoot will be quite tight if i am using a 50mm.

35mm give me more extra workspace to work on.

Was reading some chinese forums. The 5D MkII is also ( from phonation ) known as a "無敵兔" - directly translating, the Invinsible Rabbit.

Happy shooting with the Invinsible Rabbit in the Yr of the Rabbit.

Visited e universal studio today. Had fun w my 5d2+24-105. Sun was bright high. One thing I'm still getting used to is that my 24mm on a FF is wide ha (n distortation)! :p but was kindof sad I kindof missed my tele longer side as well (was using my 24-105 on my previous 50D).

Now seriously thinking if I would complement a tele instead of a uwa (initial plan).

New day, new experience! And, not worried to up my iso when I go indoor at all! Saved my back & knee from bringing my 580ex2 (also not allowed indoor). But a pop up flash is definitely useful when e sun was sky high... Oh well.

but 5dm2 is really unforgiving on this lens..this 24-105 is one of the worse lens of the L range..

i love this lens.
can u share with us why you feel this is the worse L lens?

I've been with my 24-105 a while now, I think i'm not a professional in nit picking sharp or what not. I capture what I frame my pictures to be. Hence it serves my needs perfectly well. Was on a crop, had to admit was a bit tight but paired w a 10-22. Now, it just becomes even better (the range).

Alot of people complains about sharpness, etc etc, guess a good lens is a lens which serves the purpose (and owner) well. I don't think there's any "worse" lens, even a kit 18-55 (crop body) can capture beautiful pictures in the right pair of hands. :)

Some says the 17-40 is the "cheapest" lens, some deem the 24-105 as "just" a kit lens. I for say, love it!

17-40 is much better than the 24-105 IMHO. :)

I'm in dillema of whether to sell away my 24-10 or not... since using 5dmk2, i am dissapointed with the quality of the lens... :( when i use it on my 7d, i like it so much...
but then i am not happy with my 24-70 also, just freaking heavy...

don't know lah... let see n wait... :(

There is no free lunch. Cannot compare the IQ of a longer zoom ratio lens to a shorter zoom ratio lens, or even to prime lenses. I would hazard a guess the 28-300L will do worse than the 24-105L.

not wild lah..

u personally a user of 24-70 and 24-105..

which gives u a better output? just my 2 cents, if u don't agree it is ok.

not saying THAT THAT THAT bad...but bad enuff when put next to the 24-70 lah..

if u don't agree it is fine, used it extensively (on loan) for a trip, thinking that the savings in weight and increase in focal length will be worth it..

i am quite sure for my next trip, i will not be using it alr..

for those reading my post, find out for yrself thru research, testing etc, my cup of tea will not be yr cup of tea. ;)

I think he meant your first comment that it's the worst lens in the L family bah. 24-105 and 24-70 are 2 totally different categories of lenses (range, fixed f-stop).. so quite obvious which one will be "better" if you want to compare them. And of course, the price and weight differences as well. :)

yeah..my 1st car 6 years ago..and 3rd car already..

ok..then my bad, too strong then. sorry.

Sorry... 1 more stupid question... Haha...
I thinking of buying a Wireless Remote Controller RC-1 or RC-5... Wondering if I could just use without attaching any other things on my M2?

Thanks.
