Same here.... I am finding that I am using my 5D more than my 7D. Not sure if it's because of any perceived difference in IQ... in my case the 5D just suits my style of shooting better (landscapes, portraits, etc.)

LOL, icic! IQ wise, the 5D's is very very nice to post process. :D Now altered my shooting style to practice going in close with a wide angle and capture people interacting with each other. Compared to previously using my crop cam + telephoto to snipe from far. :bsmilie:

Nope. i check the price only and decide to send mine in to check and they fix it. not too sure if can be purchase at Vivo showroom. might want to call them up to confirm

Hmm they say nothing wrong with my charger. lol. Now it's okay also. weird.

anyone thinking of upgrading?

You mean to the 5D Mk2 or Mk3? If so, then yes I am thinking of upgrading. In fact, I will likely put my 5D up for sale shortly after the 5D Mk3 announcement. The 5D classic is a great camera and I will miss it greatly but the technological advances of the Mk3 are too irresistible to ignore.

What if there is minimal technological advancement? (or is there something you know that we don't know yet) *pun intended*

I'll stick with my grand old dame till either of us konks off, can't bear the thought of sending her into early retirement for all the times she stood by me and all the sights she's helped me see/capture. But if a windfall occurs...

Good question Silas. As it stands there seems to be a big technological gap between the Classic and Mk2. So I would expect that the Mk3 would further that gap. I currently own the 7D and appreciate its technological prowess. As an example, the live view function is something that I miss on the 5D Mk1.

had a couple of mark 2s for a while but sold them off shortly after less than a month of usage..
af and iso performance was a bit dissapointing, wasn't anything near to my d700
turned back to classics, wasn't worth the difference in price in my opinion.. except for the live view, the rest ain't anything significant for me really

with the 3rd mark likely to be changing its af system, then it's likely for an upgrade for my classics :)

Exactly the same sentiments on your second paragraph!

AF i understand. ISO performance that bad eh? i've never used Nikon.

I've been using 2x5DIIs provided to me for video.

my classic has been in my dry cabi since.. In terms of stills, I find not much diff to me.

abit tempted to upgrade tho, the supposedly improved AF if true would probably be the reason.

Yes, until my 5D reaches the end of its life or there are no more spare parts by Canon.

yes. I have within the few months replaced the PCB, entire mirror box, the rubber flaps as well as the hotshoe.

after replacing tho it's been in my dry cabi, as i use the 5D2s more.

I've never replaced anything on and in my 5D since day one except once where i asked CSC to do general cleaning including my focusing screen but they replaced it instead and also the mirror stoppers, but a few times already in for viewfinder/sensor cleaning.

I too did not have to go thru a major repair since I bought the 5D in Sept 2010 and have been serving me
well ableit some general cleaning as the same as Snoweagle. Am still happy with the performance combo
with all my Zeiss lens. Maybe an upgrade to 5D2 in future not ruled out though

My mirror box and pcb after checking canon said they change due to wear and tear. The hot shoe and the rubber flap i changed for cosmetic reasons lol.

My set minus the shutter is quite new i must say. Hahahah

Yr 5D 2nd hand? I bought mine in July 2007 and now approx close to 20k shutter counts only.
