not really a moderate wide angle person, but was interested in the rumored performance of the underrated 35 f2, and the not so good vignetting control on a full frame and yet corner softness

pixel peeped from pp.com, convincing indeed and so i bought 1 yesterday, real time on my 5d showed that the vignetting is more horrible than i expected wide open ~w~U|||

but center sharpness is as good as they say, can't complain bout the price tag, definitely value for money if you ask me haha

might wanna do more real time later at night, and for some reason i cannot shoot at mid range anymore, either wide or tele lol

1) Read on this write up about his 5d having AF issues. Anyone experience this? Is it due to the limited AF points in the camera? Maybe someone with the knowledge can educate us on this.

Read about the AF thingy on this site. Not sure if this is the answer to my question. So by switching to AF centre instead of AF multiple points. This issue should be resolved?

If I am you, I will just go out and shoot more with this gem, instead of reading all the useless reviews.

The 5D is really better than what you think it is :).

Looking at its popularity, Canon should come out with a 5D Classic II, same features as the 5DMkII but without video and pricing it at about S$ 2500.

That's a great idea! I'm all for this!

Even better at S$1,900! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

You will not regret your decision. :)

Do remember to bring a flash to check also, as the hotshoe of some models do malfunction after some time.......

Hope to see your nice pics soon! ;)

I can confirm the focus issues especially with the outer focus points. It gets quite obvious when I shoot wide open at 1.4 or even at f/2 but I still love this camera to death :D

Shutter change is about $330 in total with the service fee included.

Oh and some spam. 24L + 5D = Magic :D

hohoho 24 with 5d magic

I doubt the inclusion of video would add hundreds of dollars to the price. It's mostly software. The expensive bits are those you can't do without.

Having video recording function is also subjective to individual. Some prefer to have it in an all-in-one device while others prefer dedicated ones. I personally feel that having such features is a gd plus, but i definitely can do without it as my main forte is doing still photography.

I just tried the 35mm f2 today. Pretty sharp in the center @ f2. But the vignetting is easily noticeable.

The 35L should satisfy my thirst for both sharpness, bokeh and speed for lowlight shooting. No budget for the 35L magic at the moment. Hence pondering if i shud get a 50 f1.4 instead.

hey guys. just got my 5D a few days back. did some servicing and got a canon 50mm and took some pictures.

looking forward to learn more from the people here.

i'd recommend sigma's =v=9
sharpness, bokeh, ca, speed - it's got very good controls in so many areas

focuses accurately in very low light and very sharp wide open

canon's on the other hand gotta stop down to be tack sharp >_>

the 35 f2 cant focus well in low light without any external light source unfortunately oTL|||

1) hmm... interested to learn about your lighting for the second picture. can i assume that the lighting on your model came from a source but not from a camera flash?

2) heard about sigma 50mm 1.4. did you take those pictures with it? any editing? like the colour of the pictures.

this hobby is as expensive as triathlon... need to get a hdd to ensure my laptop hdd won't be loaded with the future pictures i plan to take.

wonder if anyone like to share what lens do they pair with their 5D? Looking for get a wide angle zoom lens for my next buy.

Did some research but not really experience or knowledge so most of the lens i read are canon.

Maybe you guys can share about the following lens and if you use them can share some experience with them.

1) Canon 24-105mm 4L
2) Canon 24-70mm 2.8L
3) or any other brands
