Official 5D User Thread - Part 2

Thank you, Eleveninth. Saw that you are going to sell it off, upgrading?

I think it's quite a good match. It's got a very good range, and a build like an L. Gets the shots you usually need for landscapes or the occasional shot of the company you are with, even at f4.

All who still have the 5D. Do you find that the sensor do attract quite a bit of dust quite easily? I send for CSC cleaning but still find quite a bit of dots (small ones) around. I think I'll live with it for awhile. Afraid to clean it myself.

trying to get my hands on a 5D2 lol

occasionally gets dusty

Just got back from HK and my 5D with 600EX-RT and 12-24 took a fall from a 0.5m high bench onto the ground in Ocean Park.

Aftermath is the flash's pivot part on the right side got some small scratches and camera's right side beside the shutter button got a small scratch too which became white. Len's front cover ring also got a small scratch as a result of the fall but fortunately, it still works as per normal and lens isn't scratched.

Yeah, especially for the 600EX-RT cos it's still rather new. At least, the lens doesn't crack and everything works fine, just a bit of cosmetic damage.

Whoops ... Thank goodness it's just basic scratches. If it's a mark 3, sweat!

That may be 1 of my targets in the future. Lens first.

1 last shot with the 17-40 L before I return to my colleague. Pretty bad weather all weekend (mostly blueish grey skies). This evening might be good..but lots of housework to catch up on. ;p

Pebble Bay

Reckon once the new stadium takes shape, this place will be filled with enthusiasts!

My condolences Snoweagle... I'm glad that everything is still working well.

Great shot!

How long was the exposure and did you use a filter?

I'm not too concerned abt the small nick on my 5D but on the 600EX-RT which i only got over a mth back.

Fortunately only cosmetic damage, else could be worse.

Well thanks for the well wishes raydio, at first i thought my 12-24's front element is cracked! :D

glad that all is fine and no cracks on the flash head and front element. but it's damn painful for a new product like 600EX-RT..

last month I witnessed a third party flash crashed from light stand and the flash head totally broke. I guess here's where buying the original makes a difference.. it's made tougher ;)

Mine wasn't from as high as a light stand so still ok. Well it has happened so be grateful it isn't broken and besides, all equipment are meant to be used.

Been using the 5DMkIII for about 1 month-odd and so really satisfied with the low noise under high ISO circumstances.
Noise is, in my opinion, well controlled for this shot even under 12800 ISO settings

Thanks for sharing about the MK III, think you may have read the title of this thread wrongly. This thread is focused on the original 5D, aka classic, MK I, grandmother of the MK III. LoL!

LOL my bad!! Yes, yes, the "Ah Ma" !

The grand old dame. Still happy that my classic is still working very well, despite the fall.

Talk about a fall. I have had my share of a scare. Just last week went for event coverage with company staff
with all stuff packed in the boot. My cam bag was right on top of everything as was afraid that it will be squashed
at the bottom. At destination opened boot to offload stuff and my cam bag rolled off onto the road. My 5D,Zeiss lens and Metz60CT4
took the brunt and my heart just dropped. Luckily no damage and all still works fine.Sweat man.

Actually camera fall still not too bad...I heard stories and news that it's the photog who fall. Some pretty badly and fatally too.

Just got to be vigilant and have good awareness of surrounding when shooting.

But yr equipment is still inside the bag when it fell?

Bro go get it, you will not regret. The only thing you need to prepare mentally is sensor dust, which means you may need to clean the sensor every few months.

Throughout my usage, any mis-focus is due to my own mistake, and not due to the camera.....I don't use it to take sports though :)
