yah loh , how to confirm and verify, what if i likfe to anyhow D/L stuff to make full use of my band width ? D/L 90% then delete away, so what am i guilty at ?

Haha... True true...

For those who've said that Odex gets revenue from licensing anime out to animax check this out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animax
according to this the station is owned by Sony so unless Sony is licensing stuff from Odex for broadcast...there's a bit of a discrepency going on...

Odex case causing too much headaches for society; ISP, internet users, courts, judges, lawyers. What have our society become? Too much Litigation.....makes people think that Odex got no good biz model except to make profits by threats & lawsuits........somebody tells them to stop or somebody should stomp them

Oh mama!!!! U guys been reading this?

Hmm.... AFFILIATE of Odex being shutdown for selling COUNTERFEIT GAMES & ACCESSORIES BY THE AUTHORITIES (instead of themselves?)
Someone mentioned that they want to create a "Unique environment where Piracy doesn't exist"... Who said it? I wonder....

I think this is an integrity issue. One can't help but throw up doubts on:
1) Their Business model
2) Their motive as well as AVPAS's association with the entire thing (all seems too fishy, AVPAS authorisation letter signed by the majority shareholder of Odex which was merely verbally endorsed by AVPAS president but not in writing?)
3) The integrity behind the entire 'operation'
4) The costing issue with regards to the 'settlement fee' (or was it 'admin & investigative fees'?)
5) They seem to be acting as the Attorney General (threatening CRIMINAL SUIT under a Criminal Law which can only be invoked by Attorney General Dept & the Police), Piracy Police & Company all in the same roll.

old news but i hope this is usable in court and the appeal judge bring it up if they keep insisting that they are in the right.

Well, like what was mentioned, new evidence would not typically be heard but it would be a review.

I'd heard its somewhat like asking a university for exam results review - kinda like scaling the heavens on 2 feet.

Still, the integrity issue is of concern as allowing them to go thru the appeal would simply open the floodgate to many other unscrupulous companies who would simply make use of grey areas in law (which is supposed to represent Truth, Justice, Integrity, Fairness & Upholding of Moral Values) to have whatever way they want with the people. That includes shafting people up whatever holes they possess.

i just hope that the appeals judge is a fair one and that the PACnet lawyers put up a helluva fight. funny how drew and napier went out and hired 2 specialists after the news came out about their performance with starhub.

me : downloading is illegal, no one (or very, very few) people have contested on this. perhaps many ppl gotten free anime by downloading.
guy friend : downloading ISN'T free. we paid our ISPs didnt we??
me : .........

hahaha... so goes the logic.

Ppl distribute fansubs they are effectively LOSING MONEY rather than earning. They paid for electricity bills, ISP bills, heck even the CDR or DVDR costs money!

So, where is the profit? Hmm....

someone should tell Odex and the judge that.:sweatsm:

that's been brought up many times. Hopefully PACNet's lawyers savvy enough to bring it up if Baytsp takes the stand. though from what i hear they need to apply to be allowed to bring in any new evidence for the appeal. honestly getting very sick of odex, hope they fail and disappear since they don't have RIAA's war chest and i highly doubt the japanese are going to fund them.

you give me the impression that you're hunting this issue 24/7, you've been served with the letter? :bsmilie:

no but like glennyoung and jsbn i am interested in how this turns out because of the corporate bullying and the implications this has for privacy and how the japs are using this to test if they can go after other markets etc
