I have to agree with you that the magnification is just slightly more. For my K100D, the improvement is more as your *istD already have a gorgeous viewfinder :lovegrin: .

For those are still looking for the O-ME53, I got the 4 units from www.amazon.co.jp. They do not send direct, they send to my vpost@japan account and vpost send it to me in Singapore. ~SGD$50/unit for this MO, and it took 16 days. Many thanks to this MO group for being patient and accommodating on the meeting time/place ... hope you guys find the eyecup useful.

yah lor! Why you only need 2 days? I just went to Shriro to collect my cam this afternoon, the technician said there is a tiny dust "inside" the CCD (yes, he said is inside, not on the CCD), he can't removed it. Never mind lar, it doesn’t really affect the image.

Hi Toa Payoh...to minimise the problem, do remember to occasionaly blow the CCD with a blower as what I told you when we met previously. I had blown at least twice during my ownership albeit too late because I found out only when the images from NDP 2006 was downloaded!

BTW, back on topic, I am curious as to what is the thrill of increasing the view finder image by factor 1.2? I thought the view finder was quite good already? I would think a katzeye would be more useful, especially for manual focussing?

The right photo is with O-ME53, is hard to see the different here but it did help a bit.
I’m also thinking of using Split Image focusing screen. katzeye is quite expensive, maybe I’d try Haoda Split Image Focusing Screen – US$72 + US$8 shipping cost.

Yes, I agree with Airconvent that split-image / microprism focussing screen would be a very useful accessory to get. I was also considering Katzeye for my K100D too... now I know there are competitive ones from Haoda as well... thanks for the link

thanks for the post.. now there is another alternative to katzeye. I am also looking for a split screen like katzeye. I can't bear to cut my SA21 to smaller size to fit dSLR.

I have the O-ME53 on.. but won't say it helps a lot in MF uses. I would say, it does look better only.

Pentax O-ME53

I'm about to order a piece of this since Shirio has no idea when they will get stock of this and Cathay got none available. It's supposed to magnify your viewfinder by 1.2x (Real life tests show only 1.18x).

Be aware this product is not cheap, at bhphotovideo it's US$34.95. Count in shipping and you can expect it to be around SG$60. It's just an offer for those interested in this product but can't find it and wish to share a bit of shipping for it.
