they've perfected the ancient art of walking on algae.

jokes aside... algae patches are pretty slippery. no non-slip soles will help you.

i'm using the Teva sandals with their Spider Rubber soles (made by spiderman). but on algae it still slips. works well in water, but on oil or algae it still doesn't hold well

Rock fishing boots.

They are specialised boots with felt sole and sometimes come with nails for added grip on such surfaces. Do note that they are not cheap though.

Step ONLY on rough patches or the barnacles. Do not step on the algae covered areas...

I'd just avoid the algae...

But if you don't mind getting your feet squishy, I've used the Adidas trail running shoes, the one with the drainage meshes and very spiky soles. LOUSY on normal concrete footpaths, but fantastic when hopping from one slippery rock to another.

Proper balance helps too.

Advise not to walk on the wet areas. More prone to slip. Walk step by step if need to.

This is based on my years of experience on doing model shoots in the long kang area where there are a lot of alges around.
BTW, I always walk bare footed when I am in the long kang.

No anti-algae sandals can help you with slipperiness.

Get an old pair of sneakers and peel off the bottom rubber soles, leaving only the cloth layer. Your feet will have better grip with the algae when there is only the rough cloth in-between. Serious... I found this out by accident when my old sneakers gave way while I was wading on a slippery bedrock along a river.

Last resort is to go barefooted. Best grip of all. Or DR Martens boots. Oil-proof. I have used them while walking on oil and never flew off.
