are u a lawyer? it's already stated by police and home affairs nothing illegal about photography. i stand by what i said about it as long as i know i did no wrong and did not trespass. mind u i didn't fire the first volley in this "war" but i will be the last one to finish them.

i studied law & did rise this question before in class. like you said nothing illegal BUT its very grey and it's a fine line you are threading for YOUR rights and being a public nuisance. when you land in hot soup you can STILL stand by what you said however the law actually sides with the public best interest.

if you consult your lawyer, he will tell you the same thing maybe more for $500/hr, be my guest!

I took this quite personal as this was uncalled for. your views are yours and yours alone but i think you owe me an apology for that not anything else

i would love to take this bickering with good humour too. and i will up to this post.

anymore from u both and it's infraction. u wanna fight, take it in PM.

it's not hard to see why mods are lacking in humour these days.

take note, we do not care who is right or wrong (it usually isn't clear cut anyway), we care how the messages are delivered.

Okay, okay.... Calm down brothers. This is Clubsnap, not a fighting ring. Even if it is a ring, there are rules to observe, so keep any unnecessary name-calling at bay.... Please.

Eh, I'm not even sure there's any laws on public photography to begin with. I'm also not sure that the "law sides with the public's best interest in mind" if there are no laws to begin with.

Just to clarify, having no law does not mean the law is grey. You can't say "nothing illegal" and "very grey" in the same breath. Its one or the other.

Since you raised this question before in your "class", maybe you can tell us what your tutor said? Bear in mind that public nuisance is a two way street. The security guard can also be guilty of the same.

Also, I'm more interested in what was said rather than who said it. Maybe you could add something more of substance for discussion rather than just "it is gray" and "the law sides with the public interest". That doesn't point us much towards the answer.

Well if you're on their premises, they are the ones who sets the rules.

Anyway if you want to call the media, you also need to consider the PR and human angle, besides the strict legal and rules angle.

sorry, i missed the point.
i was refering to those street stalls or shop houses where i could stand on a public area to shoot at them. ;)

If I have a shop I'll put a sign up big big:

"Photography Welcomed!"
Owner prepared to pose!"

Any goodwill and publicity are good for business. :)
