Shooting Stars

Manually blended 2 exposures using no filters

Used another exposure to control the highlights. Always found it challenging to shoot the Art Science Museum after the Sun has set. Last shot for the series on Marina Bay which I am doing for my night photography project.

HDR image of 3 exposures fused using no filters

At one point the most overdone composition in Singapore with very slight variations. Some versions had the metal structure right in the face of the viewer. Finally gave in to my own insistence and decided to head down and shoot. Dug out the HDR software and played with it (together with Crossing Paths)

On the other hand, my shutter remote decided to head down for a swim but didn't manage to get into the water. A kind Indian man went down after finishing his jog to help me retrieve it.

Minimal processing for this one, just some minor tonal and hue adjustments. If you have been using the computer for too long, you could stare at the green bushes to rest your eyes, as advised to by optometrists. :bsmilie:

Did not use filters for the sky and just manually blended another exposure (I think -5EV :bsmilie: ) to control the highlights only. Otherwise the image is what I got from the camera. Lately trying to minimise the post-processing and relying more on ambient light. The light today wasn't good but it also meant the exposure (and even the blending) was rather straightforward.

Manually blended 4 exposures using no filters

Opted for the 4:3 framing and this is slowly becoming the trend with the perspective being so wide for the vertical framing at 10mm (15mm-equivalent) on a Pentax body. This was shot on a road divider and I had to standby my hands near my setup as I could feel the wind from the cars. Any further out, a vehicle travelling near the side of the road might even hit my setup.

Awakening of the City

3 frame panorama taken in vertical orientation using HDR image of 5 exposures fused for left frame and manually blended 2 exposures for central frame and HDR image of 2 exposure fused for right frame

Left frame has greater contrast hence I decided to shoot 7 exposures and choosing 5 to blend. The rest were pretty straightforward, especially central frame where the base exposure was almost usable straight out of camera, if not for the highlights. Previously blended an HDR image with other exposures, this time the processing got more complicated.

Shot this panorama with just a normal ball-head and UWA lens, very difficult in terms of getting all the verticals right. There are some issues with verticals, I believe. Will experiment more and try out more than one row of panorama and vertorama before even thinking of adding more tools to help out.

Thanks for pointing out. IIRC i went almost the widest i could at 11mm and i do believe there is a fair bit of distortion on the 10-20 at wide end. Most of the verticals were correctly aligned but about two buildings looked to be slightly "bloated".

i had the same problem while trying to stitch this scene
something that bothered me was the fact that the side merlion was standing on was a straight line in real life,
but after the stitching it looked liked it had an angle

Nodal point not an issue here, since the objects present in the picture here are a significant distance away and should not affect significantly. Depending on the focal length used, I think the problematic distance varies. For 10mm, I think it's something like 1 metre. If the photos were not level for single-row panorama (which is probably the issue here), it can get a little iffy though.

When you start stitching too many UWA photos, you will start getting a "bulging" fisheye-like effect (don't think it's the case here). I may be wrong but from my eye I think some CW rotation is required here, and the correction should be on the buildings on the left. Cheers!
