Empress Theatre

Sharing a shot which I made a couple of weeks back. Single exposure with ND0.9 stacked with GND0.9 and GND0.6.

Night at the Museum

Glad to be back! I have not been shooting for two weeks due to school examinations and what a difference! I did not realise that the sun is setting earlier and while shooting, I thought it was already 1920h, when it was only 1856h.

Originally intended to be a single RAW as such stacked GND0.9+GND0.3 with ND0.9 to achieve 4 stops of reduction in the exposure of the sky for greater tonality, without having to resort to exposure blending.

However, I realised that the pesky signboard on the left is too bright. It caused blown highlights and as such I shot another shot at -3EV and manually blended the two exposures to control the highlights.

Prefer #131 to #137 and yes, exam is over.....:)

Forbidden Land

Manually blended 4 exposures using Lee Big Stopper and GND0.6 (I think) to smooth out the water.

The intention of smoothing out the water was to achieve a sense of mystique of the land across. Deliberately went for a cooler tone to match the feel. Wanted to capture reflection at this spot but the water was nowhere near calm so I was unable to achieve my concept so went for the next best thing, that is to wait till the light is stronger for me to use the Big Stopper.

Hey Nitewalk, very nice photos! Good to learn from and gain inspiration. :)

Mobius

Manually blended 4 exposures using LEE Big Stopper

Shot in the rain, as evident from the rain drops on the railing on the right. Refused to go home without anything to show for, plus my aim of going back to NIE to shoot the image which I had posted yesterday. Thankfully, I did not fell sick and my equipment did not fail me. Just had to wipe off the water after shooting.

Grounded Stars

National Institute of Education, Singapore.

Manually blended 4 exposures with no filters used.

Due to the structure and the framing, I did not use any GND filters and there wasn't a need for ND filters anyway. This concept was in my mind for a very long time. It has a very special place in my heart as this is where I spent 4 years studying. The light comes on usually around or after 7pm, not too sure about that, and this was where I fell in love with someone who has a very special place in my heart while taking a stroll after dinner. I had always spoken of this concept and wish to take a shot like that, but never did that while being with this special someone.

It does not feel the same without someone special, with whom you could appreciate how special this place is, and some things may never be the same. The Sun will only set a finite number of times in our lifetime and it is my wish that I will still one day have the chance to walk down this path with this special someone. It was a beautiful event in my life which I will never forget, it was a beautiful feeling which will never go away. Only when you have loved and be loved, that you will understand the beauty of that feeling and the anguish of not being able to relive this experience with the special someone.

This is a shot which will hold no sentimental value to those who view my thread, but it is a shot made from within the heart and made with tears.

Even though we cannot be you and have the same attachment to this place, it is still a very nicely shot photograph. You are right to treasure your memories and there will be many more in the future.

Manually blended 2 exposures with no filters used

Spotted the arrow on the road and deliberately framed it in a way that it is pointing towards the exit of the museum car park. Waited for a car to exit and got the trail I intended. Originally planned to take a single RAW exposure. Unfortunately, by then the time the car exited, it was already rather dark, so had to take another exposure to exposure the sky and part of the building properly then blend the two exposures.

Couldn't notice the rain when viewing from iPhone until your description mentioned! It sure looked unique from your view angle!

Rising Above All

HDR image of 10 exposures fused with the use of LEE Big Stopper and GND0.9 (I think)

Rarely use HDR for outdoor shots. The clouds were rather static, hence not unsuitable for HDR processing. Waited till the Sun rose just above the tallest tree before taking the 10 exposures.

Sentosa Gateway

Manually blended 2 exposures, one of which is a single RAW exposure and the other is HDR image of 2 exposures tone mapped with GND0.3 inverted

One of the strangest processing ever, I would have never imagined myself combining HDR and exposure blending. HDR successfully controlled the exposure of the signboard of "Sentosa" and exposure blending helped to bring out the light trails better. Strange processing but helped me to get what I had in mind.

I did a lot strange processing too, infect I like it very much HDR combine with HDR with exposure blend and raw file until I forgot what I did Lol.

Time Travel

Single RAW exposure with no filters used

Damn difficult to frame, align and focus within such a short time. Have always wanted to do this and it is something different for a change.
