distortionn @12mm seems quite severe but i think it's the case for all 12-24mm. The reviews for this lens is good, only setback is that the lens cannot use on convention camera unlike Sigma.

However, 77mm thread filter is cheaper and easier to use. It also dun have the bobble head... I think this is a better choice and almost 1/2 the price of the Nikon model.

"12-24mm f/4 lens for digital SLRs. It's made of metal and in Japan, unlike my Nikkor 12 - 24mm made of plastic. The Tokina lens seems to have little distortion. It seems to be a traditional mechanical focus AF lens with a push-pull AF/MF switch. Of the three off-brand ultrawide lenses for DSLRs the Tokina feels the most solid and it seems fairly free from distortion. Again I look forward to getting one for review."

in terms of out look, I would say tokina 12-24 look more chio and pro.... just dont like the shape of nikon 12-24.... sigma 12-24 too bulky... in terms of price, tokina is the cheapest one, sub $1k....

My friend coming back from HK next week and offered to help me buy it. Too bad tokina is still unavailable in Singapore.... I would have wished to compare it's price with Sigma.

Tokina 12-24mm is not available in S'pore but I just got an e-quote from a shop in HK, they quoted me HK$4150 which is about S$87x. US is selling at US$499.95 though.

$9XX with international warranty is really good, imo. I got mine 2nd hand for 900 flat, but fortunately with 8 months warranty still. Go get it! Along with my 50mm 1.8, 180mm 2.8, they're all the lenses that I need when I go streetshooting or traveling!

Get it now and enjoy!

was informed that the lens cost S$1210.

can't confirm if its with GST or without. didn't get the chance to ask as i'm busy with work and forgotten about asking the GST issue.

can someone verify if the price is correct?

Just call Cathay Photo, the price of Tokina ATX Pro DX 12 – 24mm Aspherical Lens is $1220.00 including gst.

a little bit expensive for my point of view.
Hope that somebody post the pictures taken by this lens to compare
with the sigma 12 – 24mm & see hows the DISTORTION.
