I think Nikon always control the price in the market, any shop can't sell too low and too high compared with MSRP from the manufacture.

With an exception if they have promotion for short time period only(e.g. old stock clearance).

Should be no different in the product itself.

Just imagine you have too many same stuff in your storage, you might do a quick sale to clear some space in your storage, for another new items to come.

May I borrow your receipt and warranty card for the purchase of the sb900 at Nikkon showroom.
I dont mind paying $50 tips.

Btw ur offer $50 tips may not be enough....they just buy sb 900 and can sell it away...
i think about $200 may be....just my 2cents thought.....
