I'm not using a Solmeta 10 pin but a Dawntech 10pin, I'm not sure about the "cover" on the Solmeta.

There is a silver cover on the connector of the Dawntech and you'll need to screw it in to reduce the chances of the connector disengage.

It is not the connector to the camera but to the GPS unit. This part comes loose as it is just a USB cable to the unit itself. Bad design as it will just come loose with the slightest of movements. Even if that happens, the unit will no longer work and the GPS icon will not come on anymore.

Hmm maybe try to use some tape on that or something lol

I see, the USB cable to the camera 10 pin input.

Hope that Solmeta will solve your problems with the GPS cable bro.

Pretty silly even if the cable comes loose. It should still work when the cable is put back, but does not. Looking at getting the MC-35 cable and a Garmin device or just use the Garmin device and software to geotag. Was about to get the Vista HcX and the shop told me that there are higher end models. But looking at the site, not sure . So confusing....

I would suggest Dawntech instead of getting the MC35 and the GPS receiver combination which is huge.

It works solidly and stable for some strange reason now, but the cable to the device can be a bit loose. Is there any way to get replacement cables? I've also emailed Solmeta on this.

Hi, would like to check with u guys abt Dawntech? Hope can get a quick answer from you. Tks.

Once i shoot the photo, it will automatically embed to the photo with location, then i just need to do as per normal, upload the photo to any of my photo sites(e.g smugmug, flickr, pbase etc...), after that, any person who click on the photo will eventually show out the location of the photo taken?

One more qns, if i want to use external flash, the device can be unattach frm the hot shoe of our camera, and still able to take the location, right? Becos from the product explanation, seem like the power drawn is from the cable attached on the camera body instead of the hot shoe.

Tks.

the hotshoe location is just a place holder for the gps unit, I believe the unit top part should face up. Hope the mfgr could share us more light. HTH

Hi, i dun think there is a need for the top part to face up, as long as the device is not being block by obstruction(e.g put inside the bag with lots of stuff, put inside the pocket etc...), should be fine with strong signal.

Ooh...btw, thanks for ur clarification that the hotshoe location is just a place holder for the gps unit, which means i can still use my external flash whenever i want and able to record the location.

Yes, it'll automatically embed/geotag the GPS coordinates from the Dawntech GPS to your Nikon camera and will be shown in Flickr when you upload your photos.

You can mount the GPS on the hotshoe and a strap holder is also included in the package so that you can place it on the camera strap.

There're no issues with GPS and placing your camera on the hotshoe.

I'm using a GNC 35 (price 100USD: cheaper than Nikon)

I wouldn't recommend the Geometr GPS for CS members as it does not have an AUTO function where it will draw power from the camera when it is switched on and off.

You've to manually switch On and Off the Geometr and if you forget to switch off your camera, you'll have a dead camera battery.

Yeah, above very important esp you are out in field every battery juice count. :(
Like previous experience have to ask the driver to start the engine to charge the battery, his face is like super long.

where can i get dawntech di-GPS Pro L in S'pore?
