Nikon Df - the new King of High ISO performance ?

Very nice! What is the button you bought?

By the way, I am happy to report that the Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art DG works well on my DF! :)

Good to know but I don't think the 35mm f/1.4 is one of the affected lenses in the Sigma advisory list.
I bought the soft release by Gariz. :)

Oh is it? Haha.. Sorry for the wrong info! I must have mis-read somewhere and made the mistake. Anyway I am just glad that the lens can work and is damn sharp on my DF wide open. :)

Cool! I got a teak soft release button from Artisan Obscura. I simply loves the wood grain. :)

Aiya not the original Nikon soft release ...

You mean this one (AR-9)?

I think I like the Gariz one more. It is metallic and has an additional rubber O-ring underneath to dampen any vibration caused by the pressing of the release button.

I think he kind of liked the Df...

"The Nikon Df is a superb little DSLR, and the only DSLR I would own and use on a daily basis."

"It has gone with me everywhere for the past couple of weeks and has shot in bright light, low light and NO light without issues or any kind of glitch or fault. This truly is the “King of the Nighttime World” and if high ISO and low light is your thing, the Df is the champion at this point in time (end of 2013)."

"No matter what the naysayers tell you, this camera does feel great to take out and shoot, and one that inspires is one that will be used. There is nothing from Canon that excites me..Sony DSLRS are not to my liking to where I would buy one…Pentax kicks some bootie but I love the design, feel, speed and look of the Df. I can have any DSLR or camera that I want and for me, the Df wins it. If I designed a DSLR for my own use it would be 75% Df and 0% Canon 5D. Enough said."

@tomcat - how you fell bout the AF? At most times, you shot center of off-center? thanks

Because of the size and weight of the Df, the camera would definitely feel front-heavy and awkward to hold with those big zoom lenses. But when mounted with smaller and lighter prime lenses, it feels just right. The Df looks like it was primarily designed for primes, for hand-held street and travel photography and for users for whom weight is an issue and for those who want to be discreet and travel light. Can't wait to see what it would look like with a pancake lens. ;)

Will try to post a photo of it with a pancake lens when I got it this weekend(just in time for Xmas... Hehe). :)

No problem so far with the AF even under low lighting despite dpreview's comment that it's AF under low lighting is poor. I shoot both centre and off-centre depending on the position of the subject.

Recently I'm finding that he's been a little too liberal with his camera reviews and conclusions :bsmilie:

He has stated before that if he doesn't like something he doesn't write anything about it.

Well, if you follow his reviews, he also reviews things that he doesn't like :)

Really? OK :) I had the impression every review concludes with "pure awesomeness". ;)

Another reviewer who also kind of liked the Df. ;)

"Back in the days of film, we used to talk about how certain things had soul. Unfortunately now this is something we hardly talk about anymore, everything is cheap, disposable, mass-produced and all about value, bang-for-buck, etc… Well, the Df appears to be a camera with a soul. Somewhere along the lines of a Leica, or a Rolex, or an Apple product maybe? It is a celebration of Nikon’s long legacy made exclusively for those who appreciate such things."

those sample photos are just awesomely insane
especially first 4 pic from top
OK DF ... come to papa ;)
