Nikon Df - the new King of High ISO performance ?

The black one actually looks and feels more solid compared to the chrome one. Instead of a truly chrome sheen like that in the FM2 camera, it has a light yellowish tint to it which made it looked cheap and like it was spray-painted. I had originally wanted a chrome set but got the black one in the end. Of course, the fact that that was the only set left made it easy for me to decide in favour of the black too. :) So no regrets. Black is better for stealth action anyway.

Precisely the reason why I got black! :)

Look weird ?

looks not balance .... long lens small body or is it me that is not yet used to seeing the Df in zoom lens

You want a full-frame DSLR in the smallest body size but you also want it to balance with all the full-frame zoom lenses. Sorry but the laws of physics still apply in our present Universe and so you cannot have your cake and eat it.;)

If the size of the Df is too small to your liking, then you would have to go for the D800 or D4 instead. Actually, all of Nikon's f/2.8 zoom lenses are very big as is the case with other brands' full-frame lenses and would dwarf even their own full-frame camera bodies. :dunno:

If only the 'Nikon' is in gold. Just like the words on that lens
well, that's just me
But all Nikon cameras come with white NIKON wording. So that would means that all the lenses would not match all of the camera bodies.
Look on the bright side, the gold trimmings and wordings of the lens do match the gold FX on the camera body. ;)

maybe instead of gold… it should be italic?

sorry that's not what i meant ... maybe its the flatter shape of the Df that makes it looks unbalance to me ... the normal bodies i.e. D7100, D610, D800, D4 etc have a more protruding grip and fatter bodies makes it more balance ...

end of the day maybe its me that have yet to get used to the Df with zoom lenses .... see a few more angles maybe be poisoned to get the Df eventually

Because of the size and weight of the Df, the camera would definitely feel front-heavy and awkward to hold with those big zoom lenses. But when mounted with smaller and lighter prime lenses, it feels just right. The Df looks like it was primarily designed for primes, for hand-held street and travel photography and for users for whom weight is an issue and for those who want to be discreet and travel light. Can't wait to see what it would look like with a pancake lens. ;)

Will try to post a photo of it with a pancake lens when I got it this weekend(just in time for Xmas... Hehe). :)

Hmm you should only use the Nikkor legacy lenses on the Nikon Df body. See the difference below ;)

It really look different. Anyway, it is just a matter of getting use to it. :)

Yes I agree that the Df looks best with primes like 35mm and 50mm

guys i saw a video right..

u noe when you put to 1/3, the dial will allow you to change shutter speed...
i saw a video that this dial can be switched to allow u to change aperture too? anyone can confirm this?

Yes. The main command dial can be switched with the sub command dial so that aperture is set on the main command dial (only on lenses with CPU, Ai, AiS or non-Ai lenses must be set on lens).

You should look at Nikon over the years. Italic is much later, not retro enough.

One could argue that the Logo is not retro enough as it didn't go back to the Nikon F days!

Original Nikon logo - straight and narrow.

Nikon Logo on FM - this is where Df Nikon logo comes from.

I think this logo started with F2.

Italic Nikon started much later, around the time of the F-401

Not all, the chrome bodies come with black Nikon wording.

Hey where did you get that?

And I see you have the soft release as well!
T-shirt is from Riceball at Funan.
I find that the shutter release button is too low and my finger is always fumbling around the shutter speed dial which is higher than it. With the soft release attached, now all is well. :)

Very nice! What is the button you bought?

By the way, I am happy to report that the Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art DG works well on my DF! :)
